Re: key forward we’ve already got 1. Campbell will ruck most of the game and Marshall will stay forward. Easy.
One of the most important criteria if we’re to improve is Marshall being the main ruck option..could potentially elevate his game to the Gawn-Grundy status.
Besides, he’s not a great forward!
When he played forward this year his opponent ran off him with ease. The opposition were able to slingshot forward as a result. I'd only throw him down forward for a couple of minutes here or there just to break things up and to create a mismatch that can be exploited.
Nowadays, agility and speed are a requirement of all forwards, otherwise you get exploited. Most teams get their drive from the back half and having a slow key forward as the main go-to man to match up on is like a gift.

That is Sharmans greatest weakness too plus zero endurance, the opposition defenders loved the ball in his general area, it meant they could create potential to score from our F50.
Our forward line is very VFL and our greatest concern over the next few years, it won't surprise me if we see the return of Ross's old game plan to overcome the deficiencies.
From all accounts Sharman has worked hard on his running and size over the break, so lets not judge him on the hand full of games he has played forward. Next season he would have had 2 x AFL preseasons so lets hope he can step up?
