Re: Team vs Port Adelaide- Sat 7/6
Looking forward to Sam Dunell getting a couple of games to show his stuff.
No point playing Schneider - he is on the decline and I don't think his heart is in it any more.
Disappointed for Sipposs.
His numbers weren't great last week but he did present himself a lot of times.
Shame was we are so Roo focused his good leads were ignored.
I think the criticisms of CJ are unwarranted.
He is one who gives his all and creates more turnovers (our way) than prob anyone else.
Yes we all know about his disposal issues - so does he - which is why he mostly looks to handball.
Looks like Richo has come to the conclusion that the Rhys experiment is a failure.
I'm sure he'll be on the trade table this year.
Or more likely a delist.

Lee a good inclusion

Re: Team vs Port Adelaide- Sat 7/6
Coaches love guys like CJ because he gets involved in nearly every chain of play somewhere. His pressure acts are very good. His disposal has always let him down but his endeavour and ability to get a hand in to make life hard for the opposition gets him games. If we had a hybrid of him and Siposs we would have a gun player. Watching him live lets you see his ridiculous work rate, he's like a mini me Rooey with his running.
He is actually a really good player to have the kids play with because he Lenny and Rooey just work harder than anyone else on the field.
Excellent post Gringo!!!

Re: Team vs Port Adelaide- Sat 7/6
This year should be all about giving everyone a chance to show what they've got.
Next year will be more about getting a settled team for a tilt at the finals in 2016 (being an optimist maybe 2015 if we finish fast and say win the last seven .
So letting Stanley go to VFL doesn't mean he's finished just means he can go and be a star at a lower level work up his confidence and I'll bet AR is having a similar conversation with any of the boys that play VFL. Admitted some may not come back but that's footy.

Re: Team vs Port Adelaide- Sat 7/6
Siposs's lateral movement looks slow and laboured compare to most players his size. He just doesn't pounce like more agile guys. His ability to bounce back up after going to ground is not exactly Pendlebury like, either. On top of that, he doesn't have a tank to do the repeat running. He's got some weapons, but unless he can add that urgency and improve his ability to fight his way back into a contest, then he may stay at Sandringham. He should look to Clinton Jones for inspiration, and he'll see that desperation to bounce back up and attack the next contest.
Stanley just needs to treat each contest, each situation of every game with desperation. Playing next to Riewoldt should teach you that. However.......

Don't shoot the messenger but I heard that CJ is rated highly by the coach. Something about being seventh in a contested possession stat was used.skeptic wrote:my goodness, what is this skill that CJ has?
cannot believe he gets the nod again. for how long can he continue to play average football?
I think it's probably time we took a new direction.

Maybe right but as someone pointed out this side has something like 14 players under 50 games. I know we cant win if we have 14 or 15 players under 50 games but maybe we just have enough young guys. We have to at least try to be competitive. Cj is at least that if not much else.

I am pleased that Lee has been selected. He has got the footy brain, but not necessarily the footy body. I hope he can stay fit for the rest of the year as I believe he can be a good contributor at the top level. Also good work from Dunnell, he has been very consistent all year at Sandy. I suppose its auditioning time at the moment for a lot of our guys to see if they can be part of the Saints future.

No doubt cj makes a lot of contests because hes fit.
I reckon hed do a good beep test or repeat sprint.
Its what he does with the ball that is usually disastrous.
Hopefully next year Saunders is fit enough to take over from CJ every week.

I hope Dunnell isn't the sub. It's a difficult role at the best of times, but when your contract is on the line, I think it is completely unfair and difficult to give a player 30 minutes to show his stuff.
Hoping that Jones will be the sub, as per last week. Alternatively, Saunders.
