Makes you wonder how in the old days you could win a flag with one coach.
Personally, too many cooks spoil the broth.
How hard is it to play footy.
Get it ,kick it, goal....hahha

Re: New Assistant Coaches required !
Nathan Bassett from what i hear is somewhat a nutter as a coach for Norwood getting into dust ups with oppersition coaches , banning himself from doing media and just recently chucking a major sad over the schedule of the foxtel cup game threatening to play his reserves as a protest ... im not sure on him honestlylloyd21 wrote:Personally would like more line coaches given have young list next year
Nathan Bassett Defence
Scott Burns Or Adam Simpson Or Nigel Lappin -midfield
Lenny Hayes - Academy
Scotty Burns would be near on impossible to get ... from all reports he is very very happy with the WCE and the WCE rate him very highly
isnt Simpson at Hawthorn and Lappin at Geelong ? again i reckon it would be very hard to get either to leave and come to St Kilda
as for Lenny i dunno i am kinda still hoping he stays on for one more next year

Re: New Assistant Coaches required !
N Bassett was very close to Adelaide job . Actually presented really well the other night pre game Foxtel cup.
When allowed to explain on Fox TV pre game explained the demands of doing game Saturday then expecting his senior players to play 3 games in a week. (pretty tough)
I don't want Lenny to retire either but as it happens the demands of training .
As for assistant coaches moving , they need too otherwise they will never get senior job .

i dont know much about Bassett except seeing his name in some negative reports recently ... i dont disagree that he was right to complain about the foxtel cup game but threatening to play the ressies wasnt a smart move in my opinion ...lloyd21 wrote:N Bassett was very close to Adelaide job . with Lenny its almost like how it was with Harves i just cant imagine the team without him ...
with regards to the three assistants you have mentioned Scotty Burns turned down a head coach role to stay with WCE ... and Lappin i reckon would do his chances of getting a head coach job a disservice if he were to leave the geelong team at the moment ... Simpson we could possibly target but again it depends on what role we offer him , Hawthorn are going to go deep into september so you would imagine he would be pretty comfortable there and wouldnt change forthe sake of changing unless we were paying more or offering a more senior role

Simpson wouldn't come to us. He's too chicken.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
Re: New Assistant Coaches required !
How do we know any of those assistants are any good?
Because they're at successful teams now... Because they were good players?
Simpson... Is he at Hawthorn?
Don't think Mitchell, Hodge, Sewell, Burgoyne, Lewis and others would be that hard to manage?

However, Scott expects Malthouse, now at Carlton, Nathan Buckley (Collingwood) and Scott Watters (St Kilda) to all make a play for the former Melbourne head coach.
Brad Scott has thrown this one out there

There's good coaches, and there's not so good coaches..personally I would fork out the money to have Dennis Pagan across the lot as he has a great track record developing young players

Re: New Assistant Coaches required !
Out of his playing career Ben has played 2 good games this year, but it would be hard to name another 5 and never BOG.. He gets smashed week in and week out. I dont see what everyone sees in him. A gop at best. I just hope for all the ben love on this site, that he does work out because there has been no improvement since 2011lloyd21 wrote:I hope they add more to their group to be honest
Lenny Hayes to mentor all new players thru Academy
Nathan Bassett from Norwood
As for bagging Mc Evoy think overall he has been pretty good this year, you must have missed Carlton game.

With the influx of youth in the coming years, the best coaches would be very beneficial to their development.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Backline has been decimated-plundered by other sides, with neither Fisher, Gilbert nor Gwilt playing much.
I would have said get Frawley, but he seems to be injury riddled too, these days
