The real crime is the lack of support a ten year player gets from what passes as supporters on here. No-one probably understands better than Kosi that he is done at the end of this year, but the fact remains that he has put his body on the line for our jumper for the past ten years and deserves some respect from the never-was brigade on here.

You're changing your story post to post. Last post it was a legitimate block, now it's 'trying to generate some physical presence against an opponent cruising past".

What a load of tub thumping about giving Kosi support at all costs. And people going on about what a great servant of the club. He's given ten years etc. Absolute bulls***. As though he's given of himself altruistically, above and beyond the personal. FFS.
He's a professional footballer. It's his choice to play and keep playing and he's gets paid, and bloody well, to do what he does. And IMO his output has been ordinary and less than ordinary for years on end. Not worth the salary. Should have been traded about four years ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
But still there are people crapping on about having a fractured skull and the other myriad excuses that get trotted out followed by a bunch of sentiment about 'getting the big fella to 200', like he's done us all such a big favour just by turning up and playing.
I just don't by it at all. Someone like Roo, Lenny, Milney - champions of the club. Yes then I would support and understand the sentiment. But a guy who has been a totally inconsistent GOP for years on end - and one purple patch in 2004 doesn't make him a star - for a guy like that he should just be assessed on whether he's worthy of a spot in the team each week. If not, then don't play him. Let him finish on 199 if that's how it plays out. But all the sentiment about being a good bloke, a great clubman etc.....meh....
Fire away......

It's in the eye if the beholder.

Not everyone is going resonate with the same players.

It's not really up to you or me to decide who True Believer admires.

Does he draw players and open up space for Roo. Heard that suggestion on the radio today.
I reckon he does, he's another option , and regardless opposition has to plan for him being a tall.

Horseshyte. Story hasn't changed at all. I said he was trying to block him, exert some presence - not just elbow the bloke in the head, I said I don't think there was any malicious intent in it. Whether or not he's played his last game is not the issue, whether or not he should still be on the list is not the issue. The issue is about showing some respect. And there is a difference between someone giving 100% every time they cross the line in our jumper and just cruising around every week collecting a paycheque. Irrelevant of how you judge the guy's output, he falls into the former category.

Absolutely!! If the AFL has any integrity left we should be told if it was the Pendlebury hit on CJ that the umpires had referred to when they claimed there was an incident in the first half which warranted further investigation

Probably deserves 2 weeks, but because it's Pendleturd and because there's $$$Millions that will be punted on Brownlow betting and the Pendleturd will be featuring...they'll probably make sure it's swept under the carpet and the betting agencies won't miss out on their revenue

How can you possibly know if a player does or doesn't give 100% every time? You can't possibly know that. Purely your projection.
I would hope though that every player would do that, including Kosi. It's their job. But no doubt there are some that haven't.
I can only assess a player on his output - 100% endeavour is a given expectation for anyone in an AFL jumper. Your post to me exemplifies how people make projections about players - ie. 'Kosi has given 100% every time' - and then use the projection to support a sentimentalised argument.

Could understand all the negativity about Kozi if we were in some sort of serious contention and he was being carried at the expense of some clearly better alternative.
Neither of these things are the case at the moment!

So just gift him a life membership because you think he's a good bloke. He's a disgrace, done nothing for the last six years, except take money under false pretences.

How many of these were gifted 200 games:

203 Bakes, 1999 to 2011;
203 Carl, 1963 to 1972 and 1976 to 1978;
205 BJ, 2003 to 2012;
210 Brian Mynott, 1964 to 1975;
215 Jason Blake, 2000 to 2013;
221 Andrew Thompson, 1997 to 2007;
234 Max Hudghton, 1997 to 2009;
240 Spud, 1984 to 1995;
244 Dal, 2002 to 2013;
245 Roo, 2001 to 2013;
256 Cowboy, 1965 to 1977;
262 Milney, 2001 to 2013; and
268 Lenny, 1999 to 2013 (including two knee recos).

I would suggest all of these players have earned every game they played.
If we stoop to gifting games to players who do not deserve them, we devalue the performance of all Saints players who have ever played the game.

Joey is only 2 games behind Kosi, and probably would like to see him get the 200 seeing the shared a house for many years. I know who deserves life membership more, and he's played one less year.

Calling him a disgrace is harsh. And he did kick nearly 50 goals in 2009. But apart from that I agree with you that he's been average or below for a long time now. I also agree about not gifting games on the basis of sentiment.

Lucky for Milney that GT was sacked...lucky you forget a lot of his poor games...and lucky that the Saints midfield worked their arses off to give him some cheap goals in about 10-15% of his games over the last 10 years!!

Lucky also perhaps for Blakey that Ross Lyon had a contract renewal on his mind instead of recruiting and developing young talent

If Lyon had any loyalty or any true affiliation or any long term commitment to the fans, players or footy club known as St Kilda he would have culled a few more players than he did after GF2 and Blake should have been one of them.

In my opinion, a decision should have been made at the end of 2010 to delist Blake if he wasn't on a contract and the Saints on field would not have been any worse off. Gardy was staying in 2011 and Dawson was still on the list in 2011 as well. It would've been the right time to blood a tall defender/and or ruckman.

At the end of 2011, if we didn't have Gardy retiring and Dawson going to the Dockers to continue to be Lyons fluffer, what other reason was there to keep Blake on the list??

If you are going to compare Blake with Kos and say Blake deserved to get to 200 but Kos didn't and if you say that Blake was kept because he was on contract...then perhaps it's contract related for the Kos too. He was signed up on a contract he was worthy of and worked hard and that he deserved at the time. Kos - now in his final year on that contract shouldn't be gifted games, but if he trains hard and is worthy of a few more then he deserves to play his 200th

Milne was All Australian last year.

Blake has played over 200 games .

Kosi has played 197 games and that is probably about 50 more than he deserved on form.

197 games
2150 disposals
1000 odd marks
300 odd tackles
245 goals
1000 hit outs

30 Brownlow votes

I wish I had a 'disgraceful' career

Injuries curtailed him from reaching his full potential consistently, but he gave his all and played many good games.... Very courageous player.... That alone I admire

Disgrace is both harsh and unnecessary

He came back in because of injury, no other reason, as depth. So why the pitchforks now?

He's going to be out again, enjoy, pop the champagne, do cartwheels.

Calling him a disgrace is a disgrace - a complete disgrace and the act of a ****. No AFL footballer has ever been gifted 200 games. I doubt you have played one.

What an idiotic post. Milne had no chance to get that ball. It bounced away from him but believe what you want if it makes you feel better.

Big mart got it right.
A DISGRACE is the Melb FC.

The old Dubya argument - you're either with us or against us. Crap. Blind loyalty and 'our boys are beyond criticism' breeds medriocrity.

Kosi has had a good career. he is now a poor player who is playing for some reason like we dont trust Hickey yet. It cant be to help the small forwards as they have been worse than ever in the 2 games Kosi has played. That myth is over. It cant be to ruck because he cant anymore. He should play his next game when he deserves it and not before and not to get 200 games. He either is or will be a life member anyway. And Kosi is not a disgrace. Stupid disgusting comment. And why would he be a disgrace anyway? He doesnt pick himself in the team.

don't worry...Milney has f***ed up more times in matches than the Kos ever did

What an idiotic post. Milne had no chance to get that ball. It bounced away from him but believe what you want if it makes you feel better.
No chance- not even a slight chance?

If he ran at it it would have still bounced away. The ball bounced in about 5 different directions before it went through for a point so how could have Milne guessed what direction the ball was going to bounce.

Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
