Garlett got the boot from the AIS AFL academy which left an opening spot for Wright who then became more of notice.

I don't believe Wright was ever considered top 10, more like top 20-30. The Pies were said to pick him however they didn't expect Grundy to slide and chose him instead. Apparently the Hawks were also set to select him with their first pick.

It's good that two clubs (Hawks and Pies) with a good recruitment record of recent were also keen on Wright.
We also grabbed Spenc Wight from under the Pies noses. Hope they both turn out to be stars.

A bit of a surprise....Jed Anderson got the rising star nom this week...looks the goods tho

Yeah fair enough, Hawthorn got an absolute steal getting Anderson for basiclly Gilham, why couldn't sos throw in Anderson as steak knives for the Lee deal :x
