He was a bit unfortunate, the siren went as he had commenced his run up.
Too late to restart.
But it might have put him off.

Then again had he gone back and started his run up again he would have had a lot more pressure.

No Ray in the best? Clearly Sandy's best player. Pity he missed the goal. Would have capped off a great performance. Must be pushing for a spot next week. Class above most of those plodders out there today.

Was a bit disappointed in Ledger's game today. Could be he was tagged out of it, but got little of the ball. Seemed like Wilkes faded too after a promising start. Archer seems like he is out of confidence or can't find the footy and, from my perspective, it seemed like Ray and Polo were the best St Kilda listed players, with Ferguson and Markworth showing a little bit. Maybe I am being a bit harsh but Dunnell was a bit quiet too, I thought.
Sandy really could have done with Simpkin out there today, couldn't they. May have made the difference in the end.

Good to see the tommy Walsh replacement (markworth ) in sandys best yet again. Curren is constantly in the best and looks like he's gonna be a player.

Paul Amy‏@PaulAmy375

Zebra Adam Cockie thrives in the wet. He is the Van der Humm of the VFL. 27 touches and 7 tackles today against Casey. A class act

IN the end, after a rousing battle between two accomplished teams, it came down to two kicks.

Tom Couch accepted a free for high contact and used it to put the Casey Scorpions five points in front of Sandringham with less than a minute to play in yesterday's match at the Trevor Barker Oval.

Soon after Sandringham's Farren Ray took a set-shot from about 45m, right on the final siren.

It faded to the right and so the Scorpions escaped with a four-point victory.

Remarkably, it was the fifth time this season they'd won by less than six points, pushing them to the rarefied territory of 9-1.

The irony is that Couch and Ray had divergent days.

Melbourne rookie Couch has been a prolific possession winner for Casey this year, but Zebra Tom Curren tailed him like a private detective and he managed only 14 possessions.

Ray had 32 disposals. But, kicking to the social club end into a slight breeze and with a heavy ball, he couldn't clinch it for the Zebras.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

another learning experience for Tom
although he did appear to pull up a little sore very late in the game.

Sounds like a fair game from Farren - but I wonder if he has ever considered that his kicking at goal and finishing skills has always been the difference in he being a top level player to a B grade struggler. Im not saying his last kick yesterday was an easy get, but gees he misses a lot of easy shots on goal !

Really liked the look of Fergusson. Lokie the size and the way he moves. Patience required but could become a real good CHB and solve the Key defender with size issue

Very windy, slippery conditions combined with a postage stamp oval made the footy scrappy....

Sandy played reasonably well but lost fwd structure a lot.... And struggled to move the ball out of D50.

Shenton played his best game for Sandy, as did Crocker after HT..... Both have struggled to make any impact, this being a positive for them.
Lever and Markworth showed some signs but are still obviously developing

Wet and Windy. Wilkes kicked one from 25m out in the last qtr that the wind would have taken 20m from left to right just after it went through. I wouldn't be judging Farren too harshly over that kick. Nearly impossible. His game, and more importantly his effort, was first class. Couldn't ask much more from a bloke after you send him back IMO.

i'm not sure it's good that wilkes is playing well as a forward. i'm sure he's a good bloke but he's very unlikely to replace kosi and either way he isn't part of the next saints premiership side. given that he hasn't worked out as a defender, i'd kinda rather he just went back to perth quietly.

If Kosi gets hurt or suspended he is an automatic in. if Roos calf doesn't come up should play. Still young enough to have an over lap after Kos and Roo and Offers a more mobile target than Kosi. maybe Kosi could be a ruck and they could let him have another run at the forward post.

wilkes need to take his gym work more seriously. what made pods a force at afl level is he is 20% stronger than everyone else. mainly because he was very serious in the gym. wilkes could still be a good play fwd at afl level for a year or 2 yet i reckon. and the big kos is on his last legs.
