rumour that we're making a play for jack gunston - who has put hawthorn as his preferred club although adel are not satisfied with their offer - apparently st kilda have put an offer on the table that they are

if true my guess it involves:

1. offloading stanley who is not contracted and a sa kid; or
2. using pick 20; or
3. three way deal involving jones + player/pick to eagles > brad exert to crows > gunston to st k.
So am I reading this wrong...your guess is that we lose Jones, Stanley and a first round pick for this Gunston kid?? BLoody well hope not
fixed

no, those are three separate options to get gunston

Kennedy and McGlynn were traded for DP 39, 46 & 70 - one of the best deals ever - Pelchen was at Hawthorn at the time
To be fair I think Hawthorn took Suckling and Stratton with those DP, but you don't know that at the time of trading out good players...

Mumford was exchanged for DP 28 off Geelong's Rookie list - another super trade.

From Pelchin's interview it sounds like our marquee players are't going anywhere ie. Goddard, Dal Santo and Gilbert (mentioned). The players that look set to be traded are those that are not contracted ie Dawson and Ray (mentioned).

With our salary cap restraints I doubt we will be obtaining any players this year, only picks.

but...we could still lose a few....

"Following several years of high performance, salary-cap pressure at Collingwood and St Kilda will lead to several players being offloaded. Those in the gun at the Magpies include out-of-contract pair Brent Macaffer, a premiership player, and John McCarthy.

Collingwood may also explore the options of premiership utility Tyson Goldsack, who is contracted but has had several clubs inquire about his availability.

The Saints, who still have 12 players yet to be re-signed, need to shed a player or two because of back-ended bonus payments from 2010 that have to be addressed this year. The likes of full-back Zac Dawson, midfielder Farren Ray and defender Brett Peake, all out of contract, are on the table for other clubs to consider.

The Crows are interested in St Kilda forward Tom Lynch, who has played just one game in each of the past two seasons after being a first-round selection in the 2008 national draft.

The Adelaide trio of ruckman Ivan Maric, forward Jack Gunston and half-back Tony Armstrong will all depart. Maric will cross to Richmond for a second-round draft selection, Gunston is being strongly wooed by the Hawks, and Armstrong is expected to kick-start his career with Sydney.

Another premiership player on the move is Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf, who could end up at Port Adelaide after slipping in the Hawks' pecking order behind Max Bailey and David Hale after an injury-ravaged season.

All up, the players who have already made clear their intentions to swap clubs are hardly household names."

This morning on radio, listening to Peake's manager Colin Young - it sounded like Peake was staying at the Saints and a contract renewal should be worked out soon enough.

Who knows what to believe any more....
