Dangerfield is the man IMO.

Younger, less injury prone and with a better attitude in general.

Having said that, I rate Sylvia very highly. Having a true goalkicking midfielder that is a brute (with some reasonable pace) would compliment that rest of our midfield beautifully.

How much would you want to pay him?
We would want to pay him a lot however we dont have a lot to pay him.
Would love to take him if we had had the cash.

But we can get the cash and lest just thing outside the square?
Not sure why we are talking about revenue raising when salary cap is the issue. :?

Dangerfield will surely be the next crows captain?

Dangerfield may well be looking for a trade back to Victoria. Had a very good relationship with Neil Craig and I've heard (not quite from his parents mouth but very close to) that if Craig were not to be coach, he would seek a trade back to a Victorian club...

If Hawthorn can afford Burgoyne and Hale and Collingwood can afford Jolly and Tarrant then surely it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we could snare a decent player through trade every few years.

Screw Sylvia, if Dangerfield is entertaining coming back to Victoria we should do every in our power (just like hawthorn with burgoyne, pelchen-style) to get him. He is an absolute bullocking gun, kick goals, a rare talent.

I'm confused.
Is saint58 now advocating that we divert some of the money he wanted raised to build grandstands and other facilities at Seaford to paying Colin Sylvia inside/outside our current salary cap?

No, we're being challenged to think outside the square.

Obviously the plan is to sign Silvia and have him change his name by deed poll to C. Ford Grandstand.

I like Sylvia but we need to get Tex Walker imo, going to be an out in out gun and exactly what we need.

Can we get a spaceship emoticon added?

I can stick it at the bottom of the next quote-fest and pretend it's being sucked into a black hole.

Dangerfield ... doesn't seem to win a lot of possessions but can do some remarkable things when he does.

If we can get him for $15,000/average match possession/year .. we'll be doing well.

This year (his best) he's averaging about 16 possessions /game x $15,000/possession = $240,000/annum. ..
plus let's throw in a bonus of $50,000 /average goal (1.2)= another $60,000.

So $300,000 /annum... he should be all smiles.

He wins plenty of contested posessions though. H probably needs to develop his outside game a bit but that will come. I'd love him at the Saints and it would be like having two BJ's in one team. I'm drooling just thinking about but it won't happen as he will cost too much and I'm not sure if he is the type of player we need.

Our players will salary sacrifice so we can secure him and that pesky, elusive flag.

Why would they do that? Maybe if it was Judd or Franklin but Dangerfield, I doubt very much.

Would he be in the first 10 selected if on our list?

Then's he's the type of player we need.

Doesn't hurt that he can play midfield and forward. Would understand if we were talking about an expensive ruckman.

Our top 10 players would be paying a 50 cents in the dollar tax rate

So it's no skin off their nose if they chipped in and were to earn earn $350,000 say vs $360,000 on average - they'll just have 1 less latte/day.
They are dropping $10,000 gross - but it's only $5,000 net.

But for that - they get Dangerfield and a real chance at a flag.

Why not ?

The Pies players would be already making sacrifices... and they have tattoos to support.

Yep the pies players may be to keep players just as our players probably have to keep players. They arent going to do it for a player that would be about 10th picked. If he was going to be in the top 3 they may. And 5k for Ferguson is a lot more than 5k for Rooy or should he gave up 20K for a player that may make us just a little stronger.

Dangerfield is exactly the player we need and can afford with a small sacrifice.

A Judd is out of the question .. but Dangerfield has the explosive pace and can kick a goal or 2 a match .. we need that sort of player.

I'd like to see Thomas or Shaw trying to get away from him... they won't get far.

Well I think we have as much chance of getting Judd and Franklin as Dangerfield so I suggest we go after both of those.

We cant afford Dangerfield and have no way of getting him and more importantly why would he come to us. Is it because he is a mate of Jack Steven? No I have decided Judd and Franklin and then the players may at least think about a drop in wage.

Er, not just the $ we probably can't afford to get Dangerfield, what pick/player are we going to give Adelaide in a trade. Would be a top 5 pick at least I would think... where's that going to come from....

Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
