Yeah and he was going to step aside if he thought there was someone else who could do a better job!

What else did you buy?
Did aanyone come forward that was better than him whilst he was coach?

Interesting points made by Butterss in an aticle in The Age about the Salary Cap at St Kilda during Waldron's time as CEO.

theage.com.auWebAFL. .Saints have nothing to fear, says ex-president JON PIERIK
April 25, 2010

FORMER St Kilda president Rod Butterss has joined the chorus of officials in declaring the Saints have nothing to hide from disgraced chief executive Brian Waldron's time at the club and has welcomed any AFL investigation into the club's finances.

Butterss and former Saints coach Grant Thomas have been dragged into the Storm's salary cap controversy because they were at St Kilda during Waldron's tenure as chief executive officer between 2002-04.

........

The Saints had an unusual way of handling player contracts during this period. Waldron was CEO, but Thomas appeared to have greater responsibility for player contracts.

''Even though 'Wal' was in charge of contracts, there wasn't much that 'Thommo' wasn't involved in,'' Butterss said. ''He was an extraordinary hands-on operator with every element within the organisation. Nothing could happen without his involvement.''
It seems that he, at least, thinks GT was in overall charge of players contracts.

Moot point!

If Leigh Matthews had of offered his services for free, do you honestly think Thomas was going to give up a $500,000 a year dream job, when he has a Brighton mansion, a wife and eight kids to support!

Some actually bought this as gospel!

As Thomas has said and admitted during the past two weeks on Footy Constipated, he tells lies!

So how many years ago did you post on exactly this one matter?

Then please explain how this is different from other terminated staff in such matters? Just real out a few examples from your vast Senior mangement Experience please?

How is this on topic?

And what do you mean by "your vast Senior mangement Experience"?

You've completely lost me.

Does not surprise one iota that you are completely lost.

You are bagging how Butters handled Waldron being exited out......but despite your claimed "Senior Management Knowledge" you are not able to demonstrate how his exiting could have been better handled.

IMO you are only incredulous of Waldron getting an exit payment because you most likely know very little, or nil, of how such situations are handled in the real world.

Bagging it??

I'm simply commenting on it. It happened 5 years ago - I couldn't care less about it. Certainly not enough to be emotive about it.

??

Incredulous?? What the hell??

Again, I couldn't care less. It's just been reported that the Board at the time wasn't pleased with the payment he received.

And as for this....

but despite your claimed "Senior Management Knowledge"

What the hell? Where I have ever claimed anything of the sort? Are you getting me confused with someone else? Or are you just on a completely different planet as usual?

I really think you're losing it.

Boardroom dealings and the resultant fallout with President & Coach caused Brian's departure.

Whether he got a decent handshake or not, is probably irrelevant. He would've got whatever he was assured in his contract.

GT, for all his faults, agendas and inconsistencies, is a very moral man and this is why he fell out with both Brian and Rodney.

yea.

but hadn't he already given it away to his girlfriend in advance.

and ... i'd give him an effen non disclosure agreement as well to sign and a handshake , with no hard feelings written on the blackboard in chalk. for him to read as he slunk out the door.

in that situation of course , where st kilda resources were being given away.

otherwise ... as per normal , psychopath to psychopath.

A 'very moral man'
What does that actually mean?

He has stated in the last fortnight that he lied as coach.

Are there morals you must adhere to and others you don't have to?

I have also heard that he 'fell out' with Waldron adn Butterss over their 'sleeping arrangements', but does that make him a 'moral man'?

He admitted he lied as coach and so he isnt a moral man. That is one of your funniest posts ever.

I can agree with that.

But he allowed that "judgement" to impact his work performance , and via that the Saints.

The Saints are better for all 3 coming to the Saints. For a time they (and others such as MK etc) made a positive difference and the Saints were in a dire need ofa shake up and overhail. In this all three and others achieved grandly.

But it all fell apart, momentum was lost anda negative spiral begun.
Fresh blood and ideas were required and the saints are now better for all 3 having departed.

But yes the Saints are better for all 3 having visited.

This has been a great read.

Between RF and SR on one point, and gazrat and b4e on another, it has been great fun.

What a wonderful walk back intime to when RB, GT, and BW were kings.

After 2000 and Timmy, I for one am glad all three contributed to our club. We still reap benefits from all three.

Anyone who cant see that is deluded.

We are a stronger club because of the three men. But in saying that i am glad all three have departed.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

By moral, I mean strong family values.

In business and coaching, I have no comment.

By the way, which coach does not lie? And therefore, is every coach immoral?

GT disagreed with the way the others conducted their private lives.
