After every win I unscrew the lid, take a few deep sniffs then put it tightly back on.

It can only come off for good if we are on the ground and in front when that final siren sounds in September.

I've enjoyed every win this year, but with each one I get a little bit more edgy. The more we win the more devastating it will be if/when we eventually lose. I feel sick at the thought now.

Of course I'd rather lose in the H&A than in the finals, but can we realistically hope to go 25-0? I just can't contemplate it.

The lid stays on until we are a certanty to win it all, hopefully about 10 minutes into the last quarter of the Grand Final.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

I'd like to keep the lid on.

But I've just bought 4 Perth Melb tickets and AFLPA Grand final tickets to get us all over there for that last Saturday in September.

I'm a bit excited.

In 97 I flew from Jakarta to Melbourne for the grand final weekend. It was a long flight home.

I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

I wish I could cut and paste like everyone else because Mr Six O Clock's post on Page 2 was one of the funniest things I've read on this site.
My lid's been in orbit since the Port Adelaide game.

quote="mr six o'clock"Who cares if it on or off !!!!!

All I care about know is winning the last game of the Year !!! and this awesome side ross lyon has got playing fantastic team football should do it ! and when we do , I'm gunna take that lid and shove it so far up the arses of all those other teams supporters who always bag the hell out of us saints supporters for no reason, then ill melt that lid and turn it into a statue commemorating they greatest team ever ! " The saints of 09 " the people can come from all over World and pay homage' to that statue . then one day a small crippled lad will be miracously cured whilst visiting it , the statue will hence be known as "saints the redeemers "
becoming a shrine rivalling Lourdes in france, and the men featured in that statue , will be able to travel the world in their later years bringing messages of peace love and understanding to all corners of the planet , ushering in a new era of enlightenment. Just think of the pearls of wisdom someone like stevie milne a.k.a. the tip rat could come up with !!!

Gee, that wasn't so hard. Thanks Matrixcutter.

THere must be a hell of alot of lids off as its not easy to get accommodation in Melb if you don't want to stay 5 star.

I'm enjoying myself and becoming increasingly nervous but I just can't seem to pry the "LID" off.....

Lid is on, 97 hurt too much to pry it loose. I had a friend who's sister worked for the AFL and she got me a ticket sitting with the AFL VIPs. I sat next to Gavin Brown, nice guy, but depressing day.
A couple of years later I got a social club membership and have been waiting ecer since. I am hoping to eject that lid into orbit come the last day of september.
