Again Teflon, if we create 20+ opportunities to score, let's kick more than 4. I don't care who kick the goals, as long as someone does. How can Membrey and Butler be blamed for the inaccuracy of others? That makes no sense.

We are only in trouble when opportunities created are blown.

I don't think Membrey was picked up by Aliir for the entire night but it seems to help your argument. I will watch the replay now, I'll let you know.

Very convenient
“Let’s kick more than 4….I don’t care who kicks them as long as someone does….”
Isn’t that the point of what I’m saying? Lol
King/Higgins weren’t kicking
We needed a circuit breaker (other than good old DMac) to step up
Membrey/Butler - weren’t able to as forwards
That’s the point.
Look forward to reading your report on Membrey/Butlers game in terms of scoreboard pressure they put on.

Jeremy Cameron didn't kick a goal this weekend. What a spud. They only needed one more too.

What does a defensive forward do?

Is it like a tagger such as the ones that Brad Hill has copped at half-back?

I don’t think Geary, Butler or Long do that tagging thing when they are forward.

What is it that ‘defensive forwards’ are supposed to do? Intercept marks after behind kick ins?

Pressure and tackle and chase? Well that means they are second or third to the ball and in the wrong spot..

Defensive forward is a mystery position. I think it is an excuse.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Defensive forward is a term used for a favourite son who is not best 22 anymore but the coach gifts him games!!

Nothing convenient about it, King, Higgins and Gresham were the beneficiaries of the pressure applied by others and let those players down. 20+ scoring opportunities for 4 goals, the game was in our hands, the hands of those kicking the ball.

Unless Membrey was playing as a defensive forward on Aliir, I'd suggest whoever played on Aliir was let down by those kicking into our F50. From memory, that includes our entire midfield and those running off half back. Perhaps that was what Ratten meant by "other avenues" because we were so predictable that's where / why Aliir ran to?

Perhaps Butler or Membrey running past King or Higgins as they were having set shots from under 40 metres out could have been the "circuit breakers".

A defensive forwards main objective is to not kick goals at any cost - infact it’s against the coaches metric for them and they’ll be dropped instantly.

Perhaps go watch the game
Membrey actually managed to drag Allir to where King was leading on some occasions
He was pantsed
Perhaps if it looks like a duck….

Thanks for the childish petulance!

I think this guy on Bigfooty summed it up best :

I'd add to that , that we shouldn't just be relying on Higgins and King.

3 Behinds to Gresham.
2 to Ryder.
2 to NWM
1 to Campbell
1 to McKenzie.

At least these guys hit scoring shots. ( and D-Train even managed a Goal ).

We had other mids and forwards had nothing.

With Jones, Billings, Marshall and probably Byrnes to come in, Butler will surely be dropped this week.

He'll be back, but he's not best 22 at the moment.
