Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
As it stands at the moment, If I was told that I had use Pick one, I would not know which of McCartin Wright or Petraca to chose. I would be happy with any of them. So I would be as happy with Pick 3 as Pick 1. I dont think Pick One is as important this year as it was last year with Boyd.
With Pick 7, should be some good players still available. Maybe Lever, Durdin, or some classy mids. We did well with picks 18 and 19 last year. We could do well with 16, I am sure.

Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
Pretty sure we are keen on Jonathan Orourke
I Would trade our no.1 and Fisher (just saw he got 1 year contract so he is out)/Schnider/Gilbert and our 21 pick for him and pick 3. Trade pick 3 to Gold Coast for 7 and 17.
That's how we get 3 top 20 picks.

Pick 1 + a reasonable player + pick 21 for pick 3 and an unproven player with suspect hammies..? O'rourke might end up being a player and he might not...I think his current value is far less than the pick he was originally taken at

No way GWS would trade orouke for Harry Odragit wrote:I heard orourke for Lamumba us on the cards...
Not when we can give them no 1 and maybe a Gilbert or Schneider who is just as good minus the crusader baggage.
Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
Big picture is we get a no. 2 pick, pick 7 and 17 for either Schnider/Gilbert pick 1 and 21.MC Gusto wrote:That's way overs in my opinionandrewg wrote:Pretty sure we are keen on Jonathan Orourke

If oroukes value is as u say it is....we could do the trade without losing a player. So orouke and their no 3 pick for pick 1 and 21
Not bad IMO
Mind you Jaksch would be a bad get as well in place of orouke..

Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
Plenty of good players late in the draft!
I don't think we should fixate/obsess over pick 1 but hope we can get 3 good players in this draft overall.
Name: Ben Brown
Junior club: Devonport
Recruited from: Werribee FC
Draft: #47, 2013 National
Debut: Round 14, 2014 v Melbourne
Brownlow votes: N/A

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-09-05/s ... trade-hard.
Pelchen keeps banging on about getting another pick in the top 20. Maybe flashing the no. 1 trade card might be just be to flush out which players might be available later down the track. Unless we get a mind blowing offer I don't see why we would give up the best young player in the country (in theory).

Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
James Gwilt only just turned 28, played 17 games in 2014 and comes 10th in the best and fairest - gets delisted.
30 players on the seniors list placed after him.
That's harsh.

Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
Shifters Top 30
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2012-11-12/s ... 0-part-two
Jonathan O’Rourke
Position: Medium Midfielder
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 73 kg
DOB: 21/04/94
Club: Calder Cannons/Gisborne Rookies
AFL Profile: Medium midfielder who is a prolific ball winner and smart user of the ball. Runs all day and makes good decisions with the football in heavy traffic. Has good game sense and an excellent mix of speed and endurance. Classy type who averaged 18.5 disposals at 77% efficiency for Vic Metro in
the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and was rewarded with All Australian honours. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.
NAB AFL Combine Results: Beep Test - 14.3, 20m Sprint - 2.97 secs
X-factor: “His use of the ball by both hand and foot is elite. Has a real touch of class.”
Phanton Draft
http://boundforglorynews.com/2012-afl-phantom-draft/
5. Western Bulldogs – Jonathan O’Rourke
Height: 183cm
Weight: 75kg
Position: Midfield
Team: Calder Cannons
State: Victoria
Another product of the Calder Cannons footy factory, Jonathan O’Rourke’s professionalism and leadership are key attributes that the Western Bulldogs will be looking at strongly in this year’s National Draft. The Dogs are crying out for ball-winning, goal-kicking, classy midfielders and O’Rourke fits the bill with a high-possession game style, also possessing the ability to double up as a blue-collar midfielder but with poise, class and an uncanny nous to always hit up a target and rack up damaging disposals, always using the ball well as an outside midfielder. Operating at 77% disposal efficiency, O’Rourke also capped off an impressive year with All-Australian honours and was a graduate of the AFL-AIS Academy.

They were not going to have all of Fisher, Dempster and Gwilt staying on and tie-ing up 3 defensive posts.ace wrote:James Gwilt only just turned 28, played 17 games in 2014 and comes 10th in the best and fairest - gets delisted.

Happy to elevate him, give him a year...why 2 years though M?
We give 2 years too easily IMHO.

Two years is a long time for a guy who hasn't exactly set the world on fire yet. But I think he's got a bit of improvement in him so it doesn't bother me too much.matrix wrote:shents has re-signed for two years and is now on the seniors list
