There’s been suggestion that Carlton are into Hugh, Hawthorn Minchington and Goldcaost Weller...

Does the fact that none of these guys have contracts or in one case already delisted mean we can’t trade them?

If you have delisted them it is open slather. They are Delisted FAs ie like Membrey and Robbo were.

ie Too late to trade them.

Though in Membrey's cast he was on the the Swan's list and a trade was trying to be completed but was not. The Swan's delisted him and so the Saints then nabbed him.

I suspect that there are more on list that the club is attempting to trade, but who will be delisted if they cannot be traded.

Cool. Thanks SRS.

Seems a bit dumb to lose players for nothing that we may have been able to get third round picks for.

Why not cut Goddard/Freeman after the trade period

Unfair on the players to hold them if you doubt you will use them. Right thing to do as They have more of a chance of landing at another club. Plus we would ha've got nothing for them. They really were underperformers

I would assume (or rather hope) that as the Saints have already met the other clubs as group twice to talk trading, and no doubt with many phone calls etc that all the delisted players had had no interest from other clubs in terms of being willing to trade for them.

Another club may be willing to pick them up for nothing though, whether in the main draft or as a rookie.

ie I would give Freman a go as a Rookie to see if he can become an inside mid as he seems to have quick hands, can rack up numbers and this coming year may well be his first proper full pre-season.

Me too, but it seems that Richo has his papers marked.

Yes Richo's folded arm body language when he congratulated Freezer on his first game was a dead set giveaway.
"It's only a token game son as I have already made up my mind to delist you!!!"

The body language reminded me of the all time #1 StKilda body language incident.
Namely when GT and Lenny famously accepted the pre-season cup in 2004 looking like they had just been handed a parking ticket!

I think you’re reading too much into that.
