Considering it's generally one of the main pieces of evidence used against Tom, I can't wait to hear the explanation. I don't think I've seen a single article, not one, that hasn't had Gawn BOG. In a losing sideIluvHarvey wrote: ↑Mon 02 Jul 2018 5:49pmSee the coaches votes this week?

Re: Changes against Port Adelaide
As long as a win does not result in the Club not continuing to address the tail that costs us as it has and does
So Longer, Newnes, Weller remain the focus noting Brown is now injured
Assuming Acres is not available I would include Bruce (he came to us as a defender), Hickey, Marshall and Freeman
I was dismayed to see Battle and McCartin having to assume the Ruck responsibilities
And Webster for Geary if Webster is fit
In response to those who say Geary is fearless in the contest that is a not negotiable requirement of every player - plus I still have a query on Savage where if we could combine Geary and Savage you would have what we should be aspiring to
McKenzie seemed ok from a screen
Heat, humidity then rain - and at 7.45PM Russia were still alive on penalties

There is no spin, the proof is in the pudding. In all of the four matches Longer has played this season, he has been beaten by his opponent. On every outing, he has had fewer disposals and fewer hit outs (the latter being his so-called strength). He’s already been totally dominanted in 50% of those outings and three of his last four opponents have been named in the match report bests, whereas Longer is yet to get a single mention.
Longer is far from the player you make him out to be.

I hope Longer makes it but honestly when watching him (hit outs aside) I can't think of a less mobile, more useless player around the ground. He's a liability as his opponent runs riot
Hopefully he comes on in the next 18 months

Re: Changes against Port Adelaide
I heard Kane Cornes on the radio say that Ryder had still not gotten over some injury he has been playing with, and that he hopes that Ryder plays up forward and somebody else (Charlie Dixon, I think it was) plays in the ruck. If that is the case then you'd think Longer would be the best candidate, but we can't rely on that, given that Ryder was the difference the last time we played them over there. We need to be mindful that Billy has only played 2 games in a row, with a bye in between, so he'll improve with senior conditioning.sunsaint wrote: ↑Mon 02 Jul 2018 6:32pmIf you saw Longer chase AR after the game to get a hand shake from the coach - you would have to think he will not be getting dropped this week - he looked very desperate to get in the coaches faceSydneySainter wrote: ↑Mon 02 Jul 2018 5:51pm To say that Longer had his colours lowered yesterday is an understatement. Gawn gave him an absolute bath!
Hickey coming in would normally be a must for mine, but I somehow think that Longer will get at least one more week, purely for playing in a winning team. Hickey’s also has a fair crack, done okay but hasn’t quite made himself a lock for the number 1 ruck, so I think Richo is keen to give Longer a chance to prove that he can do better. From what I’ve seen so far, can’t see it happening.
Agreed also on Brown and his potential replacements. I think they will opt for Austin. Could Bruce come in as a defender?
Ryder has not been quite "right" this year - he had a quiet game last week against a Kruezer-less carlton and has not been hitting the scoreboard. If Longer is to get a scalp this year then a port game is a must.
Webster in if fit - but I would like to keep the irishman in for another week instead of elevating Gilbert
Its not about "tanking" vs winning as a recent inane thread suggests - its all about seeing young guys that perform well in the twos getting a crack so we can see IF they will make it under the increased pressure of the AFL
Heres a hint people - most of ports goals come from on-ballers
Its all about 2019...
I wouldn't make wholesale changes to a team that has won the previous two games, but we need to be mindful that the Suns, a perennial cellar dweller, and Melbourne, a side who haven't played finals for 12 years, are not even close to Port Adelaide's challenge, although we should've beaten them last year with a very inexperienced side (no Roo, Joey or Shinna played in that match). This is our third away match in a row, and how funny would it be if we miraculously managed to get up?
Can't see it happening as Port have a vastly superior midfield, and that is why I'd play a second ruckman (perhaps try Marshall again) if our first choice starts to get beaten. Webster in for Weller, Goddard in for Brown, and leave Joyce in (he performed alright under trying circumstances, I thought). This might be the game to try Freeman as his pace would be handy on Adelaide Oval.

Re: Changes against Port Adelaide
Spot on about the rucking situation - people can say whatever they like, but with the personnel we have, playing two ruckmen is a must. Longer must stay in, he will improve with more consecutive games, and one of either Marshall or Hickey needs to come back in. This is obvious I would've thought. Especially given Gawn was the best on ground Sunday, and our full back went down, necessitating playing a foreign-born first gamer on one of the most dangerous full forwards in the league. Marshall would've been an excellent match up for that situation. To the top wrote: ↑Mon 02 Jul 2018 8:08pm As long as a win does not result in the Club not continuing to address the tail that costs us as it has and does

Re: Changes against Port Adelaide
Josh Battle sustained a fractured eye socket against Melbourne and will miss 2-3 weeks. I assume the other Josh, Bruce, will come back in for him. Nathan Brown has a hamstring injury, so Goddard would be the likely replacement for him, at full back. Have to find a player to come our for Jimmy Webster if he's fit. That's three likely changes to the team that has won 2 games in a row.
