We are a bottom 6 team

Do you think otherwise??

When we are a top 6 team.... Jarryn will be fighting to retain his spot

GOPs
Weller, Geary, Savage, Roberton
Still not sold on
Webster, Membrey, Ross, Acres, Hickey, Longer
Many are not even GOPs at this stage
Minch, Curren, Lee, Delaney, Shenton, Murdoch, Wright
Plenty of kids showing a bit
Lonie, Billings, Sinclair, Dunstan
Players better than GOP
Newnes, Armitage, Gilbert, Bruce
Ageing stars
Riewoldt, Montagna, Chips and Sean... Limping to the line

We are not a great team

A lot rides on
Goddard, McCartin, Gresham, Next Years to pick, Carlisle, Freeman
We need at least 5 more players to join our only current gun
J. Steven
And he has his flaws
Bottom 6 is being generous. We were bottom 5 last year & ive got no reason to believe a couple of teams below us won't overtake us especially if age finally catches up with St Nick. When was the last time we won a game without him? We should have the Bombers & Blues covered...possibly the Lions too.

Our talls look in good shape. Most are young & they take time. The glaring issue is our midfield. Steven & Armo are solid B - B+ mids...Ross I'm confident becomes a solid B grader. Possibly Dunstan. Acres has all kinds of talent but scope to flop. Aside from Billings I'm not seeing another potential A grade mid on our list. Lonie, Sinc & Gresham classy smalls, hopefully they stand up.
I have to disagree on assessments of Savage and Webster, both who are better than GOP's. I also think that Joey and Roo will be a lot better than just "limping to the line" both would still be good enough to get a game at almost every club in the comp.
Steven is also A grade and Armo is getting extremely close.
I also think that Ross and Dustan will take the next step this year and be more than serviceable mids by years end.

Here is my take on the List:-

In contention for starting 22:-

Hickey, Carlisle, Steven, Dunstan, Acres, Freeman, Montagna, Riewoldt, Lonie, Billings, Newnes, Roberton, Longer, Gilbert, Armitage, Gresham, Goddard, Dempster, Fisher, Bruce, Mc Cartin.

The jury still out:-

Ross - too static both with the ball and with his legs
Webster - Living on reputation for disposal
White - Not seen
O'Kearney - Not seen
Mc Kenzie - Not seen enough. Reputation says has prospects.
Rice - Not seen
Coghlan - Not seen
Sinclair - Does not impact enough and defensive skills poor
Pierce - Not seen
Payne - Not seen

Not up to standard on disclosed skills:-

Templeton - Has long hair
Savage - No impact on the contest and poor defensively. Poor man's Goddard!
Lee - Kicks well but needs to impact on the contest
Geary - Static with poor disposal and awareness. Panic stations player with or without the ball!
Delaney - One dimensional
Curren - Will not make it
Membrey - Will not make it
Murdoch - Will not make it
Wright - Disposal query. Has courage.
Saunders - Awareness and disposal. Runs nowhere
Shenton - Will not make it
Minchington - Will not make it
Weller - Does not impact the contest and slow
Holmes - A romantic notion but we play 1 short when he plays.

So we have 21 who can impact on the result of an AFL match (including Carlisle and Freeman), a further 10 where the jury is still out for various reasons and 14 who will not cut it.

So we Draft, we trade and we seek Free Agents to improve the quality of the List.

And, yes, I think both Hickey and Acres can play to the level required.

The problem in focus is that of the 21, 5 are now veterans.

So we had better hurry up!

IF we could put that 21 on the park in 2016, we might just upset a few.

One thing is for sure, and that is that we will not be troubling the finals at any stage soon if we don't do something to improve the general team disposal by foot and hand- it brings good work undone, and also opens us up against teams with superior skills. It has been bad the last two seasons, and looking at the pre-season form, it doesn't see to be getting any better. I would say that Richo is trying to get the ball moving faster, but some of our guys just haven't got the reaction skills to dispose quickly under pressure and control the ball. Usually spoiling a good build up for an attacking move seems to end up with someone on the end of the chain, doing a helicopter kick to no mans land, kicking straight to the opposition, or handballing to the feet of a team mate in a worse position. It is a discipline thing that the coach needs to take a lot of responsibility for, and should be on top of- it's year three for Richo and this major problem is not being addressed.

That's pretty funny, but it does give an insight into how closely you follow the side.

Not much point having Carlisle in your best side for 2016 & Freeman needs to get through a VFL game before we worry about his place in the seniors.

"IF we could ....."

The simple fact is that both Carlisle and Freeman are contract players at St Kilda.

When Templeton was lauded on up-grade from the Rookie List, he had long hair as his attribute - and he kicked a goal from 50 to assist a victory against (Gold Coast or Greater Western Sydney - one of the new sides I think).

Haha, sorry I thought you were saying he was no good because he had long hair!

I reckon these guys will be on the block at the end of the year unless they can pull a rabbit out of a hat, but the others should be safe… geary, savage & weller all have contracts past this year and are no chance of getting de-listed

Minchington still a chance of making it, will probably need injuries to others to get a decent crack though…

Minchington has a world record game in the vfl in the midfield but the coach has already made up his mind and wont play him in the midfield in the afl.

I'm wondering if the coach has a soft spot for Geary because he can see a bit of himself in the way he goes about it.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Minchington has 2 things the senior team doesn't

Pace around the contest
High level kicking skills

He doesn't have a tank or consistency ...,
