Longer is progressing very nicely in his tap-work. But in todays football a ruckman also needs to contribute around the ground, and Longer still needs to improve vastly in this regard. He is young still with a lot of time to improve.
He does, I agree, and he will be a much more versatile and complete player for it.
As it stands he brings some quality attributes. As you mentioned, he is a good tap ruckman. People wanted one of those, which is presumably why we traded McEvoy ... great around the ground, but not fantastic in tap outs. Now we've got someone who can win the tap outs.
He also brings some physicality, which is underrated. He and Armitage are the players on our list I'd least like to run into ... Bruce is another one. He clears the way for the smaller midfielders and makes them walk taller. This shouldn't be underestimated for what it brings to the team

Sounds like big carl
I think Carl could play a bit as well as add a certain, shall we say, physicality
Good problem to have. Probably only have to really start thinking about it when Paddy starts coming on. I love how many times tommy brings the ball to ground. He gets to a lot of contents. Holmes seems to be getting better and better with every second he spends with a footy in his hands too.
