Maybe I'm being a bit harsh...watched that interview that Schneider did with him on the Saints website...he is a strange cat...I know they were having fun and maybe I'm being too critical but I didn't think he came across as a leader but more of a joker/larrikin. Also in today's game you gotta have a ruckman that can go forward and kick goals and play well around the ground. Hope I'm proven wrong but I think he'll be gone in a few seasons.
When we met him he was pretty much like he was in the interview, was really open and happy. He's a charming guy -you'd love to hang out and have a laugh with and would be good company but can't see any leadership qualities yet. He reminds me of a puppy that has not realised he's big dog sized yet.

Re: longer
So we have a wealth of riches with our ruckmen, and McEvoy is playing for Box Hill. With the benefit of hindsight, Pelchan may have made a smart trade.
Re: longer
Does every player on the team have to be a leader? Jack Steven doesn't strike me as the guy who's going to lead the troops into battle but he's still a pretty handy player to have around. Longer being a joker might be good for a bit of balance in the side.SAAD wrote:I don't think Longer has leadership qualities. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh...

Fair enough. I agree then, can't see him as captain. Though he would be ahead of Hickey in that regard - that guy is seriously loose!SAAD wrote:I made that comment in regards to people calling him a future captain and leader. All teams have a balance of personalities.
