Why would you say a personal thing like that. Seriously dont it at all. And surely heaps of these rolling eyes emoticons is worse than some things that seem to get warnings.

Look at the Dog they have got some great kids coming through and it was only a few years ago they were in PFs. Not so hard if you have a nice core group with experience and a good group of highly touted juniors coming on. I'm not too worried right now. Inexperience will have the odd blow out.

Your right Jiggster, though I do notice you a little down when Liverpool beat Everton. :D

I'm a bit worried about the NZL experiment, if we want the locals to get on board the saints bandwagon....I hope we don't go over there a couple of times next year and get belted.

Hey 3rdster! Spot-on mate...! I get (as you say) a "little down" when Liverpool beat Everton...and it lasts all of about 12 hours  Its a GAME at the end of the day, that's all. Now don't for one minute, think that means I'm not prepared to do my darndest in supporting my club. It may not be the way others go about it, but then I'm not "others" (and glad of it!  )

Yep exactly. Not depression at all.

Never waste a crisis is the old political call. We have a huge opportunity in the next couple of years to set ourselves up for another 10 years where wee are a chance at a flag.

Lets face it we wont even look at finals (unless a WCE miracle happens) until 2015-2016, realistic top four 2017?

Thats football folks. Sad we didn't win in 09-10 but thems the breaks.

Dont live your life through your football team, just enjoy it now.

I don't think the AFL will want to see a belting either, are we playing brisbane next year?

The thing is, you can't predict close games & beltings. You would have said Sydney would belt us this year, but we could have, should have… won. :(

I guess though, you can't just do these experiments when you are strong, you have to stick it out even when you are on the bottom.

Hey Fugazi ... I know where you are coming from. I know we aint' tooking clinical depression ... but when most of us on this forum are mad passionate Saint supporters - to cop last week's loss and the way the season has panned out is very very disappointing. I'll say it again ... if we had just won one of those recent Grand Finals I would have been quite happy to do some years at the bottom and rebuild. Now I'm bitter that we haven't had a GF win in past 5 opportunities.

I made a vow to myself over 20 years a go and that was 'Don't allow the fortunes of your football team determine or dictate your moods'

I've stood by that. Peaks and troughs occur for all football teams, and I know we've had more troughs than most. But really, it's a game, we love it, we're passionate about it, we can talk about it ad nauseum, but at the end of the day it is a game and nothing more. No point getting depressed over it. Things will turn around, so just enjoy the journey. In my whew, whether we finish 10th like last year, or 16th this year, it's immaterial to the bigger picture of planning for a resurgence. It'll take time, no doubt, but there's no point chewing your fingernails off and ripping your hair out because that won't make things change any quicker.

In some ways 16th this year after 10th in 2012 is a better result as far as draft picks are concerned.

I'm determined that I am going to stand with my club and it's players as we attempt to pick ourselves UP! No time for depression here folks! Far too much energy needed in barracking for my club!!!
yeah, it's was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment, mate....wouldn't have thought that needed explaining.

Well I will be honest. i was depressed after losing both GF's. i actually would thought all Saints supporters would have been depressed.
I cried in 09 and was depressed/angry for a week. 10 was shattered we couldn't steal it but 09 really upset me.

Good luck finding work in regional Victoria without transferrable skills and qualifications. They are the ones who are probably depressed. Funny thing is they were booing Milne the other night and then they probably go home themselves and kick the cat and yell at the kids. Yep, think a lot of Saints supporters are better placed than Cats. I am sad that we're not doing as well as I would like, but then again, perhaps this awful year will stop us wallowing for years in mediocrity like Richmond and Melbourne.
Some very sobering thoughts there, Samurai. Indeed, spare a thought for the poor worker who has been laid off at Ford down in Sleepy Hollow. Ford has been the main source of their economy and peoples' livelihoods for years. This sort of stuff makes our endless boo-hooing over not having our elusive flag pretty insignificant.

To my understanding, people like to give the raspberry relentlessly to Stephen Milne simply because it makes them feel better about themselves. Good old Australian small poppy syndrome culture...

exactly....2009 was the only point of protracted flatness - for 3 days I kept waking up feeling depressed...it still hurts

2010, not so much...although I got told the result in the worst way....I was on a plane back from UK for the duration of the replayed GF, and didn't know the result...until a Collingwood supporting Customs agent (can you imagine that combo) gloatingly told me about it.

You can get a new cat the next day. How long until we get another shot at the flag?

Not a cat like the one that passed  A real sweet-tempered and loving companion to our family  Another shot at the flag? Who knows? REALLY? who knows? We had the shots and lost. I'm not going to cling to the b****y awful feeling I had after those GFs. Simply because (for me) it's pointless. I prefer to focus on the future. Now I'm not for one moment saying those defeats in 2009 & 10 had no effect on me (anyone who knows me will tell you how I felt) I just refuse to get depressed about something that is now history. Simple as that.

similar to me in 09 i felt flat for about 3 days that one really hurt .... in 2010 after the first g/f the wife and i were flying off to Vietnam for a holiday she asked if i wanted to put the holiday back a week and stay for the replay but i could tell boys were shot after the draw so i said not to worry ... found out the result in the town of Hue in the pouring rain a bloke in a collingwood jumper ran out of the backpackers singing the collingwood song ...

I like the way the Power have gone about their rebuild.

That's how it works Con. It's a socialistic system and each team gets a chance at building a premiership team.

first i would have had to have had the drugs on me to plant on him ... second it would mean i would have to get close enough to the bloke who looked like the rain was his first shower in a decade and lastly i was pretty busy trying not to drown in the flooded streets of Hue (wonderful place but my lord when it rains it really rains)
