There have been rumours at the Dogs for years that he was one of the least popular people at the club. He is a notoriously prickly customer apparently with a healthy ego and will make every one pay his way despite being one of the best paid at the kennel. Not too many were upset to see the back of him I would think.
Dal is always out and about with Joey and the boys in St Kilda having coffee and hanging out- he's obviously not from the Brian Lake school of lone wolf deeds.
Im not sure about that regarding lake. A guy at our local footy club, Matt Robbins played with him and said he was very popular and a pretty funny guy.

Robbins would've played with Brian Harris, not Brian Lake... He'd retired by the time Lake got there..

Thats a good point. No wonder he liked the guy. I will see him at training tomorrow and see if he has any info on lake as well. He still has contacts down there.

As for Idiots like John Ralph (Richmond flog Journo) & David King ( Kangaroos & the List Manager ?) proposing we give him for guys like Gumbleton (Injury prone _no Heart)

If he sticks around he will end up being a 300 game player for the saints- there wouldn't be too many of those and a great honour I reckon . Does anyone know how many have played 300 in the red white and black?

4 I beleive. Harvs about 380 Burkie about 320 Loewe about the same and Breen exactly 300. The Saints were very kind to him but considering his place in history fair enough. Lenny isnt going to get there unless he plays every single game this year and next which has to be very doubtful. dal never misses so he is certain if he stays with us.

Push seems to be for Essendon- they have jobe and bj and hurley- why do they need Dal?
We NEED Dal more than any one else-
I believe you're on the mark here. If we get a trade offer that is clearly a win for the club, then the club must seek to trade.
If not, then happily keep Dal.

You would want an exceptional player as his replacement.

His worth to the younger crew could not be underestimated.

Very true, everyone has their price. Some prices are extremely extremely expensive though.

I have been observing for a while and this is my first post so bear with me
I was listening to Jon Ralph talking to KB and was yelling at the radio as he tried to justify his article and explain it as a win win. Clubs that lose their experienced players and their heart and soul cheaply don't gain from the deal. If you lose your leaders, you end up like Melbourne, how is that good for the kids. Dals recounting of what he learnt from , Burkie, Harvey and Loewe as a kid coming through shows that. I also don't understand how a club like Essendon with their new big deals for Jobe and BJ and retaining their own young young kids on the rise could afford anything like we would pay.

A lot of journos and AFL people seem pretty certain there will be minimal consequences for Essendon. I'd like to think that the sport isn't that corrupt but I'm not confident about that.

A lot of journos are being hand fed by Essendon's highly paid PR Consultants.
Many journos, are not actually journos these days...and just pump our froth and bubble opinion pieces with no research or cross-checking.
The few actual journalists, or rather investigative reporters, that actually do research are not as favourable of Essendon's position, or rather I should say Essendon's spin.

"Hardingham can be used at either end and is a jumping jack but has problems with his disposal.
He is exactly the type of player rivals would take a risk on to fill out their defence or attack.
A swap like Tayte Pears for Nick Dal Santo just makes sense.
Pears is only 24 and is nowhere near the quality of Dal Santo but given he is so much younger it's almost a fair swap.
The other issue is draft picks.
Will Essendon still have them?
