Pav I reckon you are spot on with the Hird comparison. Fyfe has been compared to Hird and I reckon Markworth has similar qualities.
I suspect SW's is a bit partial towards those kids that have been drafted since he started - the 2011-2 draftees. I've heard that off a few different people and it makes sense given guys like Ledger, Sippos and Curren (R) are either in and out of the team or can't get a game/promoted. There's a fair chance the 2010 draft can be added to the scrap heap known as the 06-09 drafts too.

Cripps didn't have a photo so you can scratch him.
Gamble & Polo are still young, just need more time.

Daniel would have played 14 games now, if he hadn't done his knee.

Good one OM.
I still hope Aaron will come good. Expectations from some sections of media and supporters were very unrealistic.

Re: Daniel Markworth
Expectations certainly well off. I'm fairly sure he was a bottom-age player in the 2010 draft so still quite young. Just not sure if he has the game to play where Scott wants him to. He seems a natural forward not a winger/back flanker IMO.SaintPav wrote:Old Mate wrote:Pav I reckon you are spot on with the Hird comparison. I'm still a little disappointed given he hasn't made any signs of improvement from last year. Someone on here did say he was carrying an injury tho.

Yeah Sipposs for sure. I was more refering to young players introduced this season to exposed game time.Sobraz wrote:Despite his issues this year, fairly confident you can add Siposs to this list also...CURLY wrote:How good is this bloke and where does he fit in next season if fit? This season Id say Murdoch, Webster, Saunders, Wright, Lee, Ross, Hickey, Ross, Newnes, Roberton are all long term players. Can we add Markworth to this list site unseen?
I think he needs this season as a down year to realise how hard it really is at the top level...

From what I've seen him playing in the VFL he runs hard and isn't afraid of contact even though he was lightly built.
Seems to be a fine young intelligent man also.
Looking forward to seeing him debut with extra size.

Re: Daniel Markworth
I think Siposs is also the victim of some fairly inconsistent coaching
drafted as a forward, trained as a forward, played early as a promising forward
then suddenly becomes a BJ replacement, moves to HBF, plays irratically - swung forward and dropped
now alternates btw the 2 positions
I know SW like the dual position thing... let him master 1 position b4 developing him in another IMO

Re: Daniel Markworth
A bit more of a work ethic is probably costing him more than dual positions

Re: Daniel Markworth
Great initiative from Hendy and the Saints. It looks like a really good way to help a player deal with the heavy psychological burden and uncertainty a knee injury can bring on them. I wish I was there- looks better than running laps for three months in Melbourne's winter.

Re: Daniel Markworth
If markworth lives up to expectations I reckon we are going ok
Markworth Newnes Steven Ross Webster Roberton Lee Wright pick 3 and pick 22 is a fairly solid base to build on.

Sorry for slow reply he would nearly Riewoldt height wise.
Will be unreal is training with Trevor Hendy up in Queensland for about a month expect him to be in fantastic condition.

potentially a good player, but so are many.
let's not pin our hopes on a pick 30-something who has just done a knee,
