Don't players get 'dream team' points for 'chipping' the ball backwards/sideways/backwards/sideways? Going nowhere but racking up 'dream team' points.

Personally I don't put much emphasis on 'dream team' points when determining how a player performed.
It's a concept that is biased against negating defenders (and forwards) and rewards attacking defenders without reflecting how their opponents went.

As an example look at Geary's game on Sidebottom. IMO he sacrificed possessions/disposals to ensure his opponent was stopped. Under 'dream team' rules he gets very little recognition for that.

I do think relevancy of stats has been placed as a huge emphasis nowadays.... There is a huge waiting for effective long kicks, score involvements, pressure acts and contested ball.....

In fact, they are probably a reasonable reelection now.... Unlike a few years ago.

Looks pretty right to me. I suppose the decision has to be made though. Does one person decide the 5 best or about 50. I suppose if the one person knew the footy good enough like a coach then maybe. I reckon you also need to be at the ground to really see all the game. I reckon some who voted were.

I gave an opinion on 'dream team' as a measure of a player's performance.

Regarding Jack's game,
I thought, looking at the game on tv, he was pretty good in the first half, less so in the second.
He certainly isn't the best disposer of the footy.

But he gets the footy.

If we let CJ off the chain and allowed him to hunt the footy.... He would average 25+ easily.

Would that be a good thing?

IIRC he uses the footy pretty well when he's having a shot at goal (especially a snapshot)

I wonder if his 'average' usage in general play is more a product of 'tiring'?

All of his inective kicks are toe-poke short kicks.....

I think you'll find he has a 2 major flaws in his technique..... He kicks from the outside in, and in golfing terms .... Cuts the ball

It actually makes him very effective around the body. He is also good stationary kick.... A very good set shot... His flaw can be overcome if he is in control of his drop and swing.

His other error comes from kicking without balance, which highlights his first flaw in general play.... Because he does everything at 100mph, the slightest miss-drop has to be compensated for, and he in-steps the ball because he cuts it....

If he took two or three balance steps, he would be able to spot up kicks better.....

He is like a bowler with a furious run up and out of control action.... He ain't going to land the ball consistently.

Dal, Gwilt, Kosi, Siposs and others are good kicks, because they are in control of their technique...... Jack is not when he is at full revs

Jacks 4 possession second half would have been slightly down on his direct opponent, they took over in the midfield after HT. Not sure half a good game is vote worthy..... Perhaps if I were at the game I would have seen all the other great work he was doing?
