But he shouldn't be the second tall if you can't take simple marks, or big overhead pack marks in the goal square.Old Mate wrote:Expectations on Maister are extremely unrealistic on SS. That's the difference, Kosi can, so when you say "We'll ahead", its trivial. I would say Kosi taking those big pack marks and kicking 2-4 goals is beter than Wilkes work around the ground. If your the second main forward and cannot apply scoreboard pressure, then what's your role?
Maister has a spot in the side imo, just not as the second tall option, he's a third at best, just like Guerra once was.

That was 4 years ago. We need a big key fwd now.gringo wrote:I thought he was good- went along way from home and ran back hard, can play anywhere and takes contested marks. not heaps of goals but looked really good to me. I actually think he is that midsized lead up that Ross Lyon went looking for.
Beau and Lee too skinny.
Id get them muscled up. Wasted summer.

Re: Maister
Beau is doing his job. He presents all day and either takes the mark or brings the ball to ground for our many, many crumbers. He'd look a lot better if our crumbers could occasionally snare one. He is in the team ahead of Kosi because he is capable of providing second and third efforts as well as changing direction in less than 30 seconds. Kosi is a better mark and kick but just can't move well enough to be an AFL player anymore.
Maister isn't in the team to kick bags of goals. If he plays 22 games and finishes with 35 goals that would be a fine return.

The only problem with a leading forward is it is hard to be a crumber. They usually crumb better from pack marks. if a player is leading you dont see the small forwards run next to them on a lead so they arent at the fall of the ball if the kick is bad or a player drops the marks. In saying that i would certainly pick Maister over Kosi at this stage.
