Ruling leaked right on time of the first bounce of the nab cup..
Deflect attention of the verdict by a bit of on field action.
Anyone who thinks this shambles isn't orchestrated has their head in the sand.
Couldn't care less about Melbourne or the verdict, but the AFL practice is embarrassing.

Re: Melbourne.. when will tank inquiry be finalised?
I remember other supporters going on about it years ago and I didn't agree with it then but to now hear saints supporters saying it in defense of the demons tanking is shocking. St.Kilda in 99-00 was a train wreck. We had some good players but then got major injuries (Harvey, Burke, everitt etc) by mid-season. We didn't tank. I don't even think we were aware enough too tank.
Melbourne planned from the highest level to lose, it was systematic. Surely when you purposely lose games for draft picks then your penalty should be to lose draft picks? Even if it's two 2nd round picks.. Like others have said, the AFL will be propping up the Demons $ wise anyway... Although, this is the AFL, the organisation that gifts new teams the pick of the best young players for 4 years..nice hand out for some..

No players sanctioned. No draft penalties.
Nice one AFL, another embarrasing slap on the wrist, hot on the heels of the Adelaide draft mainpulating non-decision.
Lucky that the WADA and ASADA have taken the doping issue out of their hands.
How spewing must Carlton be?
They got away with more tanking than Melbourne and didn't even get investigated.

Please at least make it factual. Whats this 4 years for new teams for a start? And they are still no good. Imagine if they started from scratch. Of course we werent good enough. As if our club would do such a thing. neither was Carlton, Collingwood, WCE or Hawthorn. They were just bad. The only side that has tanjked is melbourne.

Brock Mc lean was pretty much the toxic one. Once he came out and said publicly they deliberately lost it was alway going to be trouble. anyway, this is all speculation but if it's true the AFL is a total joke. More holes than a leaky boat that joint.

Re: Melbourne.. when will tank inquiry be finalised?
id be pretty sure that the journos would be close to the mark
otherwise they wouldnt come out with a fine and no lose of picks, only for the afl to double the fine and take away picks for the next two years
theyre getting done for bringing the game into disrepute imo
obviously there was no evidence of tanking
otherwise they wouldve lost picks
oh yeah
FARCE

Re: Melbourne.. when will tank inquiry be finalised?
The Melbourne side that took the field against us at the G on Saturday night last season had nine players from the starting eighteen team which rolled us in the 2006 elimination final. A lot of these same players were the ones who in 2004 were being touted as the strongest list that the Demons had ever had by members of their all conquering team of their early 60s.realdeal wrote:I remember other supporters going on about it years ago and I didn't agree with it then but to now hear saints supporters saying it in defense of the demons tanking is shocking. Before the 2007 season even started they were turning players over and rebuilding when they didn't even need to. We thrashed them on their own dunghill in rd 1 that year and they have been disappointing ever since. Possibly the only club in the contemporary era to be older during a rebuild than they were when they decided they were past it in the first place!

They should get him to do those sumo fat suit wrestling with with Darren Jarman. I'd pay to see that and they don't need the suit. Better than Sonny Bill Williams and a geriatric south african. He will need a job soon.

Re: Melbourne.. when will tank inquiry be finalised?
I don't think a player should get sanctioned at all. Just quoted what they said on FOX.plugger66 wrote:samuraisaint wrote:$500,000 fine, Connolly suspended for 12 months, Bailey for 3. So much for coaches who throw games never working in the game again...

Doesnt seem a slap on the wrist. 500k fine is huge and why would a player get sanctioned. A lot on here said they shouldnt get any penalty because other clubs have also done it so can you explain how the AFL can get penalty right? Some say no penalty and some say loss of picks or points.
I think if, notice I said if a member of a club coaching department is found to be guilty of tanking, which is throwing a game and therefore dishonest, they should never be involved in the game again, at any level. And anyone who colludes in this should get the same sanction. On FOX last night the commentators announced that the AFL had found Melbourne guilty of tanking after a 7 month investigation and they said that the aformentioned penalties would apply.

Agreed re: us. WE clear ran out of players by round four 2002. Looking back we were lucky to win four games that year with the lack of cattle we had.
Same when Blight coached us in 001. We were getting two or three players going down each week with hamstrings. Melbourne had none of that misfortune.

Remember, it's not a draw, it's a fixture
Take away Melbourne's Queen's Birthday Boutique Match and give to North-Bulldogs, or Us-Richmond, as part of their penalty...hey, that's it, I like that.

Not quite- you can take drugs as many times you want....just get CAUGHT twice and your employer will know. the way the testing seems to be done it's pretty unlikely you get caught. Drugs get out of the system pretty quickly and not many testers are out at 4.30 in the morning.BigMart wrote:Game has never been better!!!!
