Watters has forecast a big pre-season and thats what these guys need to do .
I watched a interview years ago with Gary ablett jr , in which he said he was a good footballer until he had a big pre-season , and got really fit . he then became the fantastic footballer we know today ! I think that jack and armo could become that good . it just take application !
Jack has had a couple of stupid indescretions involving alcohol , as well as a few others .
Lets hope the all embrace the coaches philosophy , so by march were flying !

Simpkin I am still reserving judgment on. Very good defensively but poor skills and undersize.
I think you are very wrong there!!
He is a good decision maker, but his kicks are generally pretty floaty, not the kind of bloke you'd want kicking it out of defence regularly. I think he might get squeezed out if we can find a bigger body.

On kicking...IMO the average kicking ability of our backline was a huge problem this year:

* It causes lack of drive and scoring for us
* It leaks too many easy goals to the opposition

Cheap sideways kicks often flatter backmen who on stats are often amongst the most efficient kicks. But it is that kick under pressure that counts.

* Gwilt: post knee this year his attempts to kick long were often way off the mark, and in kicks in was often disastrous.

* Geary: love all his hard work, but under the pump he is a sprayer

* Gilbert: Got better as the year went on. His run and carry is often attacking, but his kicking mixes sublime passes with absolute shanks

* Fisher: Normally good, but did have a bad habit this year of at times kicking to stationary saints which meant that well zoned opponts ha time to run in and spoil/mark

* Dempster: A shining light this year in all aspect. While not super accurate was certainly reasonable this year.

* BJ: The sperboot this year, was sometimes not so super....

* Gram: was certainly better this year, but does still bomb not accurately at times....

Asa group....in smart and accurate ball-use we lack down back.

Watters needs to work on this if we want to be a Top 4 Team again.

Everyone needs to remember that Stanley is still only 21!
still so much upside,
probably still growing into his body.
If by 23-24 he is still the same then be worried.
