No doubt you'll get many opinions different to this, but to me I'd say he's a bit like a Ryan O'Keefe.

I also reckon he's a bit like Daniel Markworth, but if you haven't seen Sam play then you haven't seen Daniel play either :P

I don't get it though.

Who is he replacing - what role is he filling?

Or is he being upgraded for just 1 week until BJ/Steven come back?

I don't think so Quixote, Scott said he was going to reward some really strong Sandy form OTC which was before the Steven suspension I think?

Interesting...

First assumption is that he's being upgraded in order to be played this weekend. So does that mean that Saady is in doubt(?injured) And that Terry is on the outer for the time being?

Other possibility is that it really is a straight forward case of rewarding the good form... i.e. he'll get paid more (?) having been upgraded... so acts as an example to all the other rookies i.e. you go about it the right way and you'll get bumped up to the senior list...

I posted previously that the Bummers were spewing we took him, they tried to get him later in the rookie draft as a " sleeper"
Bergholt thinks I'm an idiot and the Bummers didn't rate him , nothing further from the truth they were just being smart.
This happens a bit , particularly interstate ( just look at Wet toast)
He has played bugger all footy, could be anything
Quote from my previous post
"He went from playing amateurs to getting drafted in the AFL in one season, I think that shows a bit. The bombers sent him up to Bendigo for the last six games of the VFL season to get a better look at him. I guess we may have spotted him and liked what we saw that being enough to draft him with our first pick."

Ameet Bains had a lot of to do with his selection, with his Ammo contacts proving handy.

From his interview, he implied that he was going to make his debut!

He said something along the lines of ..... "they asked when we think we'd debut... i said r15, and its R16, so pretty close"

seems like he's been told he's playing and he let the cat out a little... albeit cryptically

They cant have been that 'spewing"/ They had several chances to take him and passed (the entire national draft). Clearly the bummers didnt rate him much/enough.

He has serious talent and a level head. 190cm could play HF, HB, Wing..... Outstanding mark, and moves very well.

It just proves you dont have to be outstanding as a junior. My best mates son played on him in the Ammo under 19's when he played at St Bernards i beleive. He looked good and had a good year but he didnt come across as an AFL player or probably even close to an AFL player. It wasnt even the top grade in the Ammo's under 19's. His improvement since has obviously been massive. I suppose he is just about certain to be the sub so he isnt going to get a huge chance to prove much but it looks good for the future. A big rise from A grade ammos to AFL in just on a year suggests there is huge improvement still left in him.

Sam made the VAFA rep side three years in a row at u23/senior level from old Melburnians. Was given an opportunity with Bendigo mid 2011 after again displaying outstanding form in the VAFA..

Drafted at 21 at the end of 2011.

Would be interested to know if he made the under 19 Ammo vic side. Where did you get that info from?

A mate who plays for St Bedes Mentone when I asked him if he played against him after finding out he played VAFA in his Bio when we drafted him

Fair enough. I think he may have made a rep under 19 side but he was no superstar in that comp. Looks like the improvement started at OM's.

nah, sorry if it came across that way, i just think that if they really rated him they would have taken him earlier. but i'm sure you're right, clubs frequently mess around trying to get someone a little bit later than they should go, i'm sure more often than not it doesn't come off.

i reckon terry was dropped to find some form in the twos - he'd certainly been down from his early season highs, understandably.

i get the impression that watters gives players a relatively good run in the seniors, then if they're not quite there he drops them with instructions to work on something particularly. if that's the case then it would take a few sandy games to prove they're responding, and besides that sandy had a bye last week so he hasn't actually had any time to find form.

terry's got massive potential but also heaps to work on. i reckon he might not play many for the remainder of the year but come back better in 2013.

Fantastic news.
He's been a really solid contributer for Sandy all season.
Fit and runs all day - really good at one percenters, runs hard to be third man to a contest.
Can play as a defender or mid.
But when he drifts forward can also kick a goal.
Solid overhead.

But to top it off he's a hell of a nice guy.
