Until this season with a couple of exceptions we either recruited 'project players" or kids who were found out to be no good...or both

Our 08/09 draftees should be the ones starting to really cement a spot now...far more than the two (Simpkin/Stanley) combined from both drafts that are still playing.

Lets see how many Rising Star nominations we get over the course of the season...Im tipping none.

Oh and our forst round picks since 2003..the ones you really want to build your club around down the track...well..less said about that the better.

Curren and Ledger 19 and 20 years olds, and both having high disposal games for Sandy is a step in the right direction. I doubt either will be A graders however you still need the mid range guys to make a successful team. If they, along with Ross can make it as in and under mids then along with Steven and Amitage our future midfield core isn't looking to bad at all. Cripps and Siposs have the potential to be the outside mids to compliment them nicely. McEvoy, Simpkin and Stanley are progressing as our future talls. The missing ingredient for our future planing is genuine A graders who we haven't had the opportunity to pick up. Lets see how we go in the next few drafts cos no doubt we'll have some high first round draft picks.

In the next few years we may need to get an "A-grader" or two via free agency, or a trade, but hopefully one or two of the young ones we already have will rise to that level. With opportunities someone that you don't expect to (eg. Fisher, Gwilt, Gilbert (09/10 version), etc) usually does.
Once Roo, Lenny, Kosi and Milne are gone that is going to free up a LOT of space in the salary cap, to go shopping for our next Gehrig or Hamill, who helped us rise up the ladder very quickly about 9-10 years ago.

The is no excuse for not developing at least half of first rounders into above average players.

Considering we delisted and then re-drafted MCQ says it all really. Hack.
