Why did he put his name in the draft though?

I wonder why he even nominated-- given both time he has been listed by clubs he has had to be dragged almost kicking and screaming into the fishbowl that is AFL

Nominations last 3 years...

Apparently Orren Stephenson didn't nominate for this draft but his registration was still valid from a previous year.

No he isn't.

Not even as bad as Maxwell.

Some people just cant cope with the discipiline of AFL football. N.Ablett is one of them

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Maybe Nathan might be a late bloomer like his Dad........GOD.

If I can recollect correctly............ you may pick me up that this is incorrect......... but it nags in my brain that this may have been the case.

Gary Snr wasn't able to adjust to VFL footy at Hawthorn in his early years. Much to their chagrin. He couldn't hack being in the big smoke in Melbourne, and didn't like all the footy hype. Gary Snr went back to playing down the peninsula way (mornington me thinks) or it may have been Gipplsand region for a season.

Geelong talked him into trying with them. They found him a place in Torquay where he could spend his time surfing and he was more settled being away from Melbourne and in the 'country' type environment of Geelong.

So maybe Nathan is more like the old man and just needs the right environment. Also he might need to find 'God', that seemed to get Gary Snr focussed every time he went astray!!!!!!!

Was playing for Myrtleford when he was "rediscovered". I think they wear saints colours. Oh what might have been!

Bit out in my geography was I? Up in the north east corner of vic he hid, not down along the south east corner eh?

Don't know if he would have made a good Saint................ was exceptional as a Sinner.................... athough, he may have fitted in quite well when one thinks of our team make up in dem days

Our culture might have curtailed his career, as he was well known for his off-field activities, Loris. Was definitely a sinner. We've not heard the half of what Mr. G. Ablett Senior got up to, both during and after his career. Still, he could play a bit.

One of the most over hyped players in modern history. Never shown anything apart from a surname. All this brilliance they talk of I have never seen. I don't think he is that lazy either...I just don't think he is any good

Not sure about that. Was at the GF when geelong smashed PA. I know it was a smashing but Ablett kicked 3 and if he had confidence he could have kicked at least 6. He wasnt confident enough to have shots at goal and kept giving or trying to give it off. I definitely reckon he could play but like some others just didnt have his heart in it.
