Archer and Smith are probably the only zero gamers in the mix for round one. Archer really only for structural reasons - he's still very raw. Beyond the first game, it's anybody'd guess. It's going to have a lot to do with their form and the form of the big club. There's a lot to like about Cripps, Crocker and Ledger, but they're not ready yet. Walsh, I think, is AFL ready if he's needed, but I don't think we have a desperate need for him yet.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

I gather you don't rate him Bernard, at least at this point in his career.Bernard Shakey wrote:If Archer is promoted we are rooted. Will not happen.
Juan Antonio Flecha would have a better chance.
But it's one player and it's for a limited period (6 weeks?). I don't think that equates to being rooted, not even in Kimi's loose vocabulary.

We have the following who ar eyet to play a game.
Tommy Walsh
Nich Winmar
Will Johnson
Paul Cahill
And this years recruits.
For me it will be out of Winmar and Cripps.
Not one of them!!!! its always the same they will only get a game if there is a injury.
HOw could they name mini he played 1 good quarter of one nab cup game, and didnt kick many goals.
Ledger, cripps,Alister smith all played very well in the nab cup and kicked goals and thats what we lacked all last year from our small men.
Plus we lack pace and playing one of these guys might even help the side!
I thought we learnt from collingwood they blooded a few young guys and played very well.
So Lets play them not because they are young but because they are good and sometimes we just have to have some faith in youth.

Ledger is injured and Cripps really hasn't played much footy in the Pre season. Reports suggest he was struggling to see the game out last week for Sandy.saint58 wrote:Ledger, cripps,Alister smith all played very well in the nab cup and kicked goals and thats what we lacked all last year from our small men.
That leaves Smith and certainly a good case can be made for his inclusion.
Just the same I have no real problem with the way they've gone. Happy to give Mini and Peake a crack tomorrow night even though I'm not their biggest fan. Round 1, MCG, big crowd, experienced and talented opponents. Very important we get off to a good start.
I just hope that as the season progresses that some of these kids are forcing their selection rather than just being suggested because they appear to have more ability than some of the established guys.

What a complete and utter waste of money by the club. Does Archer have photos?saintbrat wrote:HappenedBernard Shakey wrote:If Archer is promoted we are rooted. Will not happen.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Can't work out if Mini or Peake is going to be the biggest target this year.
Ledger did a hamstring didn't he?
Cripps is playing really well, but I think the club easing him into it.
Don't want a Scully on our hands do we?
Plenty of time to blood some kids.
You seem something about him you don't particularly like Bernie, or you don't think he is ready, or he is taking the spot of someone else you had in mind?Bernard Shakey wrote:What a complete and utter waste of money by the club. Two years away from being ready as I see it, but what would I know. Club must have more money than I thought.SainterK wrote:You seem something about him you don't particularly like Bernie, or you don't think he is ready, or he is taking the spot of someone else you had in mind?Bernard Shakey wrote:What a complete and utter waste of money by the club.
