Not as a player or part of the playing group...but I would seek his expertise as a specialist coach...One who could work on goal-kicking with our forwards that are inconsistent in this area. Under the strictest supervision, of course.
Fev was one of the best shots at goal (especially from a set shot) in the modern game.

My cousins both have a huge gambling problem. Because of this one of them has been suicidal for years where as the other doesnt have any issues. It effects people in different ways.

gambling is a huge prob and yes i guess its a mental problem
its just when we say 'mental' we literally think, that guy is mental, crazy, loop de loopy.
years ago in the band days a mutual friend of many bands including my own who helped record demo tapes and ep's etc for local bands took his own life due to gambling.
it was a sad day and he only had to ask for help
he was found in his car behind the studio with a vacuum cleaner hose hooked to the exhaust and taped to the window.
he had no money and his daughter who he had not seen in many years got in contact with him and said she was getting married and she would like him to be there, he had no money and was given a few hundred to get himself a suit and a wedding present for her
he then gambled the lot away and couldnt live with himself for doing it and never made it to the special day
yes...it is a mental problem...

He won't come to St kilda for the same reason cousins didn't come.
A recovering addict is not a good person to have at a footy club.
If we were seriously looking at getting him, and he is terminated, what ild be looking at is:
Getting him down to Sandringham for the year
Playing him at CHB
if he looks the goods and has made progress with the addiction, draft him next year.
CHB is where i'ld be playing him at, because it's the best place to gauge a commitment. It's so hard to be lazy at CHB.

After his Greville St. urinating incident I thought maybe the penny would drop, he already had a greatest-hits compilation out by that point and Carlton quite rightly read him the riot act.

I do not know Fevola so I can not comment on him as a person.
What I do know of him is that he plays AFL football and that his persona has seen him also in the media.
It appeared to me that the courting of him by the media was because he may say or do something which gives the media outlet exposure - and attracts an audience.
So he found himself in demand in the media.
On the Brownlow night, which I did not watch but have since seen footage of Fevola replayed on numerous occasions, I have noted that Fevola appeared to have had a "few too many" (probably not the only one) but that what made him different was that he had a Channel 9 microphone in his hand and he had a camera filming what he was up to - and converying those antics live to an audience.
So where is the culpability of the media?
Why didn't Channel 9 tap him on the shoulder and say "Fev, you may have had one too many mate so perhaps time to take a cab home - and please give us back the microphone because our cameras will no longer be following you around in the hope you make a fool of yourself and attract an audience for us".
So when we see the media do best what they do and crucify someone I have a question for the media.
I have a view that the media is the uneducated telling their fellow uneducated what they do not know - and restricting their reporting to 3 words because that is the limit of the intelligence of the media.
The question is who the hell is the media (Murdoch and Fairfax), who do they represent and why?
And who do they employ?
Who are these people who seek to force their opinions on us?
And seek to influence us?
Why don't we question them?
Why were Channel 9 very, very happy to promote Fevola in the way they did - then draw the gun for him doing exactly what they wanted him to do - attract an audience?
We now see the media joining Nixon's visit to the home of a female - and certain allegations being made and denied - with the St Kilda Football Club.
Why?
As I understand it Nixon is a private individual and holds no position at St Kilda Football Club.
It may be that he is the Manager for certain players, some of whom play for St Kilda Football Club but that is the extent of his connection with St Kilda Football Club.
Currently there is comment on the scope of political debate in Australia - and, again, the fault for this is the media and the lack of representation in the media given the ownerships of Murdoch and Fairfax - both of whom come with a vested interest.
It is time we demanded more from our media - and by not allowing them to walk away from their involvement in Fevola's persona and resulting circumstances - where he appeared unable to distinguish between being lauded for hamming it up for the camera and the disciplines of every day life - and obviously received no appropraite mentoring or counselling.
Just a headline for a self-interested, self fullfilling media.

Our young developing tall forwards (eg Lynch, Cahill, Archer & perhaps Walsh & Johnson) wouldn't get a look in. Not good for their development IMO.

Going to such a high profile place to gamble is probably a big cry for help. He clearly still needs it and also needs to find some productive and positive ways to spend his time, very, very quickly.
A job and/or volunteer/charity work are almost certainly in order. Having lots of time and money on his hands right now is asking for BIG trouble.
I used to live with someone who had a gambling addiction and he would lose basically his whole paycheck in one sitting at Crown. I just hope Fev pays his gambling debts immediately he has the money, or he could easily blow the lot that he gets from Brisbane and still be in debt.
