The McIntyre Final Eight actually penalises the top team by pitting them against fourth in the first week. The winner faces 2/3/6/7 in the prelim, most likely to be third, whereas the QF winner of 2/3 faces 1/4/5/8, most likely fourth. Hence the situation last year in the PFs where Collingwood handed Geelong a cakewalk while a desperate Bulldogs outfit took us to the wire.

Friday night for my money is the most important game in the series. Win this and we have as good as got it.
