Not according to The Age
Like Essendon's disappearing fan base, yesterday's turnout of under 29,000 the Bombers' smallest crowd for a home game against the Lions for 15 years. That came after two sub-60,000 crowds against big rivals Carlton and Collingwood, and a few weeks after the Dons recorded their lowest home crowd against any team for 12 years.

Essendon fans are the biggest fair weathered fans in the league.

Soon as they start heading downhill, they jump off quicker than does water!

They walk amongst us...

We have a huge fan base compared to the roos and will remain viable in the future from our sustained success and marketing. At school I was the only saints fan in the 80s but now at my kids school at least half the kids are getting around with saints merchandise. It doesn't all hold together but if even a percentage stay saints we should be good in 10 - 20 years time.

Nick Riewoldt is a gem for our marketers, he is instantly recognisable and plays a wholesome brand of footy. My son was not that keen on the game but loved watching Nick, now he is obsessed by afl.

Wow. Do you have to work on it or does being a jerk just come naturally?

Don't forget the Richmond game was live in Melbourne so that would not have helped with crowd.

Geez, mate. You've picked a pretty committed person to pick on for their lack of committment.

Personally, I suggest you retract.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
