This would how I would love to see them line up to try something different with our set up, match up their small forwards, create run and carry from half back flanks and adds some marking power, skill and defensive pressure to our forward line:
Backs - Steven Baker / Zac Dawson / Sam Fisher (on Johnson)
Half backs - James Gwilt / Jason Blake / Farren Ray
Centreline - Nick Dal Santo / Clint Jones / Jarryn Geary
Half forwards - Sam Gilbert / Brendon Goddard / Adam Schneider
Forwards - Andrew McQualter / Justin Koschitzke / Stephen Milne
Followers - Steven King (vs Hudson) / Lenny Hayes / Leigh Montagna
Interchange - Raphael Clarke (option for half back flank match ups and rotations) / Jack Steven (rotate with Geary and dal Santo) / David Armitage (rotate with Hayes and Montagna) and Michael Gardiner (vs Roughhead)

He must earn a hitout.SydneySainter wrote:The selection panel is really making McEvoy earn his spot.
Was beaten in that department by Minson when the doggies dropped Minson to the VFL.
Unless he comes into the team as a specialist marking forward he is a long way off.
He certainly isn't anywhere near being a ruckman yet.

Unfortunately it is the players who are easily replaced who get punished.
Those who really let the team down like Kosi, but are not easily replaced, get let off the hook.

i'd pictured Rae and Theodore as the half forward flankers back in that era...Stephen Theodore wrote:Kosifantutti23 wrote:

Love that. From memory was a pretty good forward pocket who loved a specky.
Aged just 17 when he debuted for St Kilda in 1969, Rae was a half forward and played in the Saint's losing 1971 VFL Grand Final team..
Theodore kicked 22 goals in 1970 and was a half forward flanker in St Kilda's losing 1971 VFL Grand Final team.
there you go....
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window

Mini plays a different role than a true forward, he sits on the 50 or just outside and cuts off the opposition kicks out of defense. he sets up play and is almost like a tagger to the oppositions usual link man. He is a really competitive player and makes it really hard for the opp. to clear the backline.
He is a really hard one to replace because he is physically hard at the contest and able to hurt the other team with long accurate kicks to a tall or kick goals himself.

Accuracy wise he kicked 22.7 last year vs 2.3 this year.
Mini has not been bad, but he has been hesitating more and has not looked as clean as last year.
His tackling is comparable to last year as is average disposal though.
So to me he is find the ball as much, is still putting on good pressure, but is just not using the ball as well as last year.
