Dogs fans are acting in a very similar fashion to what Carlton supporters did when they won the pre-season flag.
I've copped that much about Zac Dawson this week it is actually quite funny.
My hopes for this year;
*Saints Flag
*Collingwood top 2 then out of finals in straight sets.
*Dogs top 3 then poleaxed by us in the Prelim
*Cats thrashed by us week 1 of finals, win semi & prelim, record loss v Saints in GF (to prove wk 1 wasn't a fluke)
*Carlton, Essendon miss finals.
*Tigers make finals (get into 8th on slight percentage from Carl & Ess)
*Hawthorn make finals then lose elim when Buddy kicks 1-8
The rest... couldn't care less

Bulldogs don't have lids, they have muzzles.degruch wrote:

The Bulldogs know how to keep a lid on dont they!

They might want to get a lid first!
Stick a ball in their mouths and refit the muzzles, keeps them real quiet.

OK, so Bazza's flying, and all is good down at Doggieland
How are they gonna cope when he goes a month being well held, niggled and contained. His demons resurface and off he goes...
All the talk has been about the risk we took with Lovett and how it backfired, OK well thats done, we know, we move on.
Barry was and is still a risk - all it'll take is a Barry brain snap and he's gawn- will the Dog's be too?

You're right Hardsaint, there was a few risks taken this year. While ours failed to pay off quite early, the others like Barry and Fev need to stand the test of time.
Personally I would be worried about soft tissue injuries with Barry, he isn't as young as he used to be. The time away from the game didn't help Cousins ageing body much, likewise Baz needs to pace himself IMO.

They and most of the football world have said that the Dogs needed a Full Forward and finally they get Barry not just kicking goals in one game but in the whole NAB Cup.
Imagine if Kosi kicked 7 in the NAB Cup Final or nearly 20 goals in 4 matches. Would we be excited? If we hadn't been in any Grand Final since 1970, would we be excited. Let them have their day in the sun, it's 6 months till September last time I looked. Barry might have a bingle with Lara Fling

I agree, on the proviso that Barry thumps someone in the Prelim and gets a weekThe Craw wrote:if we don't win I hope they do.
I don't begrudge them one bit.
Good on them I say.
Could not bear to see his smirky gob with another premiership medal around his neck

One man does not excuse a supporter base. There are always exceptions, however making a generalisation as a whole, like we do with all supporter bases, the above is correctbergholt wrote:wow, talk about a gross, overtly political generalization! dave smorgon is a self-made multi-millionaire, where does he fit into that little theory of yours?jonesy wrote:People have a soft spot for dogs supporters, not sure why. The old saying rings true in that you don't win a premiership without a good defence, that's why we and Geelong played off in the GF, and Geelong's defence played better in the last stages of the 09 GF- more to do with a couple of level heads under pressure, like Scarlett. The Dogs still have a light defence apart from Lake, and other than that I can't see much change from last years ladder. We need more mobility in attack and that's why I'm pushing for Goddard down there, but otherwise it might just be 2010 -the year of the Saints.
