What drafting risks have the last two premiers taken!
Actually I think you'll find Geelong were trying for AL. Perhaps you could wait for national sorry day - 'bout all you can hang your hat on.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

That's right, they were very keen after the 08 GF loss.

Sydney were also keen as mustard in '08 and Paul Roos apparently has the biggest 'no dick head' policy going around.

Absolutely agree, Con. The issue of subjudacy is paramount and the player has a right to a fair trial. We all have opinions but unless we are part of the judicial system, we have to give him his day in court without prejudice.

As far as erring in recruiting him, that will come if he is found guilty and does not play with us. At this stage, we can only speculate.

Oh yeah, a close friend who knows someone at the club told me that when they interviewed Lovett, he tol Ross that he'll do his best, but there's a good chance he migh get tangled up in an alleged rape... and yet they recruited him anyway.

Yes, they should apologise.

Exactly.

And a point regarding Ball....We wanted a pick and player....We weren't offered that.

First off we traded for Andrew Lovett NOT drafted him.

Second of course the club wont admit it made a mistake because IMHO they didnt. Lovett could deliver what we needed and what we were missing: speed, he needed a change of club and a second chance and St Kilda offered it to him whatever happens after that its the players responsibility, its up to them to take the chance.

Andrew Lovett failed not the St Kilda Football Club. He failed to make the most of a second chance, he failed to stay out of strife when he had to know he was on paper thin ice, he failed to repay the faith the club showed in him and he failed to prove to everyone he was worthy of a second chance.

In the (paraphrased) words of Vince McMahon

"St Kilda didnt screw Andrew, Andrew screwed Andrew, I have no sympathy whatsoever for Andrew"

I think the general membership are owed a public apology.

For me recruiting LOVETT was like regressing to the St Kilda of old - picking up other clubs garbage! This debacle on top of the club moving on of three of it's most loved players in Maguire, X Clarke & Ball has created a level of mistrust amongst supporters.

Some form of explaination and admission from the club is required to restore my faith in the current administration.

well said.....imhfo.....

NO - they won't......

Most supporters wont even admit it was a mistake......

It was more of a mistake than
Rix, Elliot, McGough, Ackland, Capuano, Beetham.......at least they wore the guernsey...

We all can be wise in hindsight.

If you predict gloom and doom at every opportunity eventally you will be right once.

Give a monkey crayons and lots of paper and eventually he will write a word.

It was a punt...... it could have won us a premiership....... it might not have.

It was an attempt to bolster us in an area we were sadly lacking in.

Didn't work..... so what..... at least we tried..... now we must move on.

Plus Harley was from PA and Ottens had been variable at Richmond.

In addition the Cats took various other rejects that sunk without a trace.

Nathan is an interesting one as they basically only got him to play by promising to help him get his mother a house (Frank Cost discovered that this was NA's weakness and exploited it). He was never comfortable and basically left as soon as he could.

Unbelievable! I sure hope the playing-group has a lot more mental toughness than some of the so called 'supporters' on this forum, otherwise we are so far away from a flag that it's not funny.

As far as I'm concerned, the club has moved on and left Lovett in the hands of the law. They're already soldiering on and continuing with their premiership tilt and frankly the ones who can't move on are the supporters who can't stop rubbing salt in their wounds. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves.

The even bigger insult is the notice that supporters expect the club to apologise. Why should the club apologise? Apologise for the obviously lack of a life these so-called supporters have?

If there are people who proclaim to be bleed red, white and black but at the same time can't move on until the club sticks up their hand and says 'fine, we f**ked up', you either need need to grow up or get a new hobby.

Ha! High five SS, good call.

I'm afraid this thread is a bit early for a start, better wait until there's a news of any charges being pressed...remember, it's all subject to an investigation at this stage. The club certainly won't be sorry if it transpired that Lovett went on to kick the winning goal in this year's GF. I also doubt they'll be making any statements admitting error in recuiting any of other past miscreants...lets face it, there's been a few.
