If Ball is happy to take quite a substantial pay cut, than he will stay, but that's a big if.
Ball will get less...whether he plays for us..or another club.

No one would pay him $600K now.

Ball has had plenty of time to sign the contract offered to him.
He is playing brinkmanship for more.
More game time, more money.

Possible outcomes
1 Ball signs the contract before the end of trade week - unlikely seeing he hasn't already signed.
2 St Kilda trades him.
3 St Kilda does not trade him and he signs a contract before the drafts - unlikely without extra money.
4 Ball goes into the draft and St Kilda gets nothing for him.

This is why European premier league soccer clubs wont even let a player START the last year of his contract.
He either signs a contract extension or is traded.
The loss of a transfer fee for allowing a player to see out a contract is too great.
They either sign or get traded a year earlier, no sentiment involved.

St Kilda has little choice if Ball continues to play brinkmanship.
They have to tell him he has until ----- say Wednesday to sign or then he is traded.
The possibility of a trade to Fremantle might prove encouraging.
