Hayes is outstanding...but Harves was special
I have not forgotten how good harvey was and never will, but i think hayes has been sold short for many years.
I think there is a bit of bias in that. Lenny is very likeable. 8-)

Like people who say Riccuito, Hocking, etc, were as good as Harvs. Lenny is more on the Riccuito level for me, but should surpass him depending on his ability to drive some team success.

Lenny is a champion, one of our greats. He has been a fantastic servant and has been up there as one of the better midfielders in the game since his fourth year of football really. Yet Harvs is our greatest ever and one of the greatest of all time, his 97 and 98 seasons were two of the best seasons a single footballer has played, thats where he stands out compared to Lenny imo.

Huge call does that touch of magic outweigh Lennys qualities?

As a premiership player and Norm Smith medallist.

I'll have to write his name down on a piece of paper because I'll probably have old timers disease by the time he retires.

How will he be remembered?
Probably like Robert Harvey. Extremely highly rated by Saints fans, not as much by the media and general public- because he's relatively quiet and doesn't do media every 5 minutes. Love him.

I was working out my best ever St Kilda team last week to put here on the forum just for an interest hoping not to bore anyone. Been going to see my beloved Saints since 1954 and saw all their Melbourne finals up to 2008 except the 1997 gr final so that takes in a lot of top Saint players that i have seen.
Had to put Hayes in my team with Harvey as the rovers. Hayes is a better player than Ross Smith in my opinion and who knows he may join him as a Brownlow winner this year.
To give you an idea of my team Baldock was on the half forward flank alongside Roo and George Young.
