People will be surprised with this kid. He has the heart of a lion and will continue to improve and make it because he will accept nothing less. A great role model for the rest of the team...

I'm afraid Hayes may be too old by the time Roo is finished up with the captaincy, 29 next season...while Goddard is still 3 years younger than Roo and emerging as quite the Saints man.

Definitely BJ. Shame that Roo will probs captain him for most of his career, cos I reckon he could be a f****** awesome captain.
And Roo isn't?

Good thread, provided the names thrown up are our kids.

Not players around the same age as the guy who will be our captain the next five years.

Yeah I should have elaborated, I believe they are our best captain material atm, and only one younger players comes close IMO...

You are indeed correct. I will henceforth refrain from posting late at night from a hotel room overseas. I will commit myself in all future instances to recording my thoughts by hand and posting at a time of day that is more conducive to correct english.

Oh - and pray you don't make any typing errors - I will be watching.

I was impressed when Goddard was interviewed on Footy Classified earlier this year, seems grounded. I cannot see the captaincy changing hands for sometime though?

I was posing that as a question, do people think the captaincy may change hands?

Never said he wasn't.

Just saying BJ would be equal, possibly even greater. We probs wont find out for at least a decade though lol.

i really don't as long as roo is playing...however bj should have 5 years left when roo does retire...even longer obviously if he goes to the gold coast etc etc

Hmmm, it's an interesting one...sometimes it just happens that there is a couple of people worthy of the title all at the same time.

James Begley was going to be our captain one day, wasn't he? Now I know he went home after losing his mate in Bali, but he never really lived up to his promise before that.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Begley was Crap!

Luke Ball will be our next Captain 2011....Then maybe Goddard (if he stays)

Our leadershi[p group is solid for 5-7 years

Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Ball, Dal Santo, Maguire, Goddard, S.Fisher.

McEvoy is leardership material down the track if he succeeds....Good leadership qualities is a must for our next 2 years draftees...

From 2003-2006 we have not drafted anyone who is captaincy material (Sam aside who was 21 when he was drafted)

luke ball? who is he? the guy that is always 2 weeks away? dont think so.

Goddard, Goggard and Goddard.

BJ is now our 2nd bext player and is headig to number one. hes tough. resilient, skillful and beoming an elite player
. will become the fomiddable player we always thought hed be. hes also a passionate and dedicated saint.

BJ should be captain now. i love rooey - dont get me wrong. but BJ is THE MAN.

2 years rooey to GCoast for number 1 draft pick. BJ SKipper.
