I'm basing my assessment of the session on four key criteria.
1. Intensity
2. Skill Execution
3. Tactics / Drills
4. Productivity
Having closely watched Adelaide train for 3-4 years before moving to Victoria - I'm saying the benchmark Neil Craig would set a benchmark of 8 out of 10 for his players, and based on today's output our skills will need to improve 25% before game-day - read into it what you will.
I was just a tad disappointed in the ball hitting the deck as often as it did.

In fact, it's probably one of the reasons they've been more successful since their induction to the AFL.
6 of one, half dozen of the other. Neil Craig's well known for running hard training sessions. Adelaide always starts the season as one of the fittest teams, and often has a hot start as a result.
At the same time, they're becoming known for not finishing the season as strongly as they start them.
A lot comes down to coaching philosophy, which can be a bit hard to guage when you get the impression that open training's are more about putting on a PR exercise than about the actual training. I'm sure there are objectives for these training sessions other than PR, but I'd hesitate to judge Lyon & St Kilda's overall training philosophy on the back of them.
Maybe it's not the best idea to be going 100% ahead at the very start of the season.
But alas, it's not the start of the season...it's 2 weeks to go until finals, so i'd be very worried if we weren't training as hard as possible as often as possible.
And it's not to mention that Adelaide have won their past 4 (?) - but the test will be this Sunday.
