The pies are poor traders generally, what do you imagine they would seek from the crows? and on another level, what will they get? lol.

Chris Knights is a victorian? handy player, he and a draft pick perhaps?
They were shocking traders.

However their trade of Tarrant for Medhurst plus a first round pick was to their favour.

Didak for Salopek?
I dont think salopeck will go, but i wish he would to the saints!

they want him to be future captain

It wont be Adelaide, it will be Port Adelaide.

Alan has family in Adelaide, as well as g/f. He originally wanted to return to Adelaide earlier, and met with Mark Williams, but Collingwood were stubborn in pushing through a deal.

My feeling is that the pies will want Ports 2nd round pick, Damon White and Travis Boak.
that'd be an interesting trade.

White is a hack, but the pies may be worried about the injury prone nature of rocca, reid and rusling.

Boak is a superstar in the making though, port might not want to lose him, even for didak. But that trade would be close to the mark.

White only has played 6 good games in his career as a lead up forward and they were all against the Saints.

We actually pushed hard for him last year, but ended up with Charlie.

I reckon Didak and Port Adelaide would be a 'good fit'.

I can just see him spending quality 'bonding time' with Brogan, Chad,Tredders etc.

He'll be a fantastic addition for PA in their annual post derby drunken brawl with Adelaide.

Didak would be a good fit for Freo's "All D*ckheads" policy, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him in purple next year. They could keep their "recycled hacks in, promising youth out" campaign going with...

Didak for Palmer + 2nd Round Pick

A lot will depend I think on the willingness of Didak to be flexible about destination and Collingwood to push him by putting him in the PSD if he doesn't play ball.

If there are a few clubs interested (and there should be, he's a very good footballer) and who feel they can get him to settle down the lifestyle (a much bigger concern) then the return on a Didak could be very good. Very poised player, excellent kick, great vision. They don't grow on trees. 25 years old. If he'll agree to go Fevola (no drinking), there's no team he doesn't walk onto on talent.

The off field means Collingwood could find themselves over the barrel, it would be a huge loss for them to let that player go without return, so they're in a position not dissimilar to West Coast a year ago. Cousins went for nothing, Judd went to Carlton and Carlton held onto the #1 overall pick.

I wouldn't write off the pies as traders, their last problem child (Tarrant) got them Medhurst and a first rounder.

He could also be a 'bargain' for another Club because Collingwood would be stuck with his contracted Salary in tehir Salary Cap if the Club that takes him puts him on reduced wages.

eg, If his new Collingwood contract is for $500k per year and his new club will only pay $300k, then the Filth have to put the missing $200k into their own salary cap.

Or they can sack him, tear up his contract which frees up their Salary Cap issue but raises the possibility that they will get nothing in return for him.

Wouldn't Collingwood have to sack him to be able to get rid of him, I thought that the AFL brought in a law after Heffernan (could be wrong) signed a contract and then was offered for trade that you couldn't trade someone who had signed a contract that year.

Lawrence's last game was against North Melbourne in an afternoon game. We won by 5 points. As I recall he was awarded a goal that may have hit the post. Later that week he definitely hit the post.

Unless they ask/agree to the trade?

Do Collingwood need another Darren Millane tragedy to wake these pricks up?

Maybe they should try being more like him on the field then off it.

i can't believe collingwood actually has the spine to suspend 2 of their best players while their finals hopes hang in the balance

good on them

they've actually gained a bit of respect in my eyes

they had no choice really. to have taken no action would have been seen as weak and inept.

How great was it listening to teh journalists/reporters getting 'stuck' inot Pert as to why Collingwood feel that lying is worse than drink-driving.

Methinks there will be some savaging of the Filth in tomorrow's papers.

hypothetical I know but what if they offered Didak for trade and no team wanted him, like what if they held a war and nobody turned up?

pretty sure we wouldn't take him on unless the zero d-head tolerance policy that saw the likes of Lawrence, Lappin, Everitt, Hall etc dissappear from our ranks is reversed

first rounder and pearce for didak

no way they will trade either salopek or boak...

however pearces' career has stalled after looking so bright and provides major pace and carry that collingwood so desperately needs, plus the first rounder that didak commands

Didak for Kerr
that would have to be classed as a cultural exchange
LOL yep has a certain balanced justice to it
one talented DH 4 another that would compensate both clubs for their on and off-field losses

A point a very well known poster from here made on another forum.

yesterday Eddie and Mick were out front taking the big stick and easy option with Shaw.

Today after the s*** has hit the fan they send out Gary Pert to face the firing line. No shows the both of them

Squibbed it. Took the easy option yesterday, took the easy option today.

gutless and weak.

Have cut three players loose and wouldn't dface the media after their idiotic sideshow yesterday.

Geez Mick i hope we dont have any players hanging under bridges after the clubs have cut them to pieces and humiliated them to save face.

Remember that little piece of advice you piece of hypocritical s***???

Gutless, pathetic and pissweak from a bullyboy President and a stupid old hasbeen coach.

God awful club and McGuire shows his true colours once again.

Lance or James??

The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

ooops I'd better clarify the intent of my previous attempt at witticism as entirely non-racist in any way
I was eluding to the fact that they could exchange some of their previous club cultureas it were, both being prominant protagonists

What a great day :D :D :D

Good riddance Didak !
What goes round comes round.

With any luck no other club will touch this parasite.
Collingwood will be left with a hole.
It will be the end of his career.
And hopefully in two years time he will be a wasted alcoholic.

What a great day :D :D :D

That's certainly one point-of-view, - that it was gutless for them to not front the media again.

From a win at all costs club (well from any club) - I still think it was a pretty courageous decision before finals. I don't think 100% of saints supporters would back the club if a similar decision if the same happened here. And I doubt it had unanimous approval by Collingwood members.

So the evening news didn't have a 2nd grab of Eddie fuming/embarrassed - which all the anti-Maguire folk dream of. Aside from pleasing some opposition supporters - it would have been pointless/counter-productive

Eddie and Burns (I haven't heard Malthous yet) made it clear from the start - the issue shouldn't be about themselves and their reaction. But rather the pressure/focus on Shaw & Didak.
Day 1 happened to be split 50:50 between Angry/Emotional Maguire, and Heath Shaw. The 1st story is merely entertainment; addressing incidents like Heath Shaw is far from 'mere entertainment'.
By letting Pert cover it - the focus of the media and story has changed.

-----------------------------------

2 questions I have for us here..
1/ Equivalent situation at StKilda, would you support an equivalent decision?

2/ Those who speak to pies fans; or troll forums: what do you think the level of support for the decision has been?

To be honest, I'd rather have to face Collingwood with the Shaws and Didak in the team. If they were playing, I'd have to question how focussed they would actually be, and this would therefore hamper the performance of Collingwood on the night.

Playing them minus the trio, in my mind, will see us face a galvanised group seeking to overcome all the media frenzy around the Lexus Centre this week. No doubt Eddie and Mick will be able to motivate the team to perform with their backs to the wall. The young kids they will play instead of Shaws and Didak will be better value this week.
