Still kudos to the little fella. Has brought us some memorable moments.
feast or famine? he scored at least 1 goal 125 of his 150 games.

if he had scored 500 goals from 150 games that would make him one of the greatest small forward of all time with a 3.3 goal average

even phil matera who many argue is one of the most brilliant small forwards of the modern era managed only 2.9, and daics himself, the legend of collingwood scored 550 goals from 250 games, and 97 of them came from just 1 season.

i think the expectations on Milne are ridiculous and their is insufficient appreciation for what he has achieved.

he is one of the top 3 small forwards in the competition for goal delivered in this decade.

1. phil Matera
2. Jeff Farmer
3. yapper Milne.

and folks are condeming him because he hasn't delivered more
To be honest about it, i don't think anyone is expecting him to kick 7 goals each week.

The problem is that he kicked 61goals in 2005.

He put the expectation to kick 60+ goals each year, in a forward line that would be scoring 120 points week in week out.

Then in 2006, as our forward line malfunctioned he kicked only 29, and was looked down up as a reason for why we were playing poorly.

In 2007, under a new coach, a fresh chance he was unable to capitalize and kicked only 32, albeit in the worst scoring side in the competition.

However i do understand the deal people are making over him this year, in arguably one of the worst attacks in the league, he's scoring a lot of goals, and he's playing even better then he was in 2005.

In fact as a goal kicker, he's playing much better footy than Kosi, and was on par with Riewoldt (Up till 2 weeks ago), yet people were calling for him to be dropped.

Statistics wise, he's playing better then he was in his best year (He scored 61 goals - 2005) and he's scoring almost a shot on target more then he was in '05.

And the whole 'he plays poorly interstate' argument is a joke. Considering we have scored: 65, 91, 67 and 84 so far this year interstate, and lost all but one game, it's not surprising.
Riewoldt has scored less interstate, infact Milne is the average from interstate games.
Kosi has kicked 8, Roo has kicked 6 and Milne has kicked 7....yet it's Milne's fault.

Nobody complains because he doesn't kick enough goals, it's the pressure

he puts on that sometimes lacks. But I suppose you have to take the good

with the bad. You definitely wouldn't get rid of him.

no go back and read up on criticism of milne over the years, he only kicks in winning games (DER)

he goes missing too often (he scored at least 1 goal in 126 of his 150 games)

he is inconsistent (he returns on average 2 goals per game)

he isn't a team player (he creates 1.5 goal assists per game and 2 goal opportunities as well as kicking his 2)

the fact is he is now in the top 3 small forwards for the decade on form.

phil matera and jeff farmer ahead of him.
