If the board has not tries everything in their powr to remain at "home" then i must admit i would be disappointed. It seems like the local council are impossible to deal eith and in the end their failure to compromise will cost them a lot of $$
Archie Fraser in a members email wrote:In conjunction with our consultants, we have undertaken an extensive examination of all options including remaining at Linen House Oval or relocating to sites such as Casey Fields, Port Melbourne or Frankston Park.
This rigorous process over many months has considered what is best for the football team with the Club taking into account both capital requirements and on-going costs and has culminated in the Club partnering with Frankston City Council.
They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.
I thought one of the many reason Westaway & Coy challenged the old board was their failure to secure the geographical location of our headquarters despite years of discussions with Keystone Council.
Yet 5 minutes in they are accepting Archie's advice and jumping ship.
I would have thought as part of due diligence they would have gone to the Council, said we are a new board, and recommenced negotiations.
All they have done is rubber stamp the Butterss/Fraser recommendation without any serious attempt to try for a better outcome.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

didn't Butterss say we were staying at Moorabbin contradicting AF?
Yes but many thought that was just posturing to try and bring the Council back to the negotiating table.

Was devastated when we left the Junction Oval, was devastated when we went to Waverley, was devastated when we went to Docklands. Have survived and although Moorabbin holds wonderful memories for me, feel this decision will prove to be a great one for the club in the long run.
GO SAINTERS 2008!!!!!

Archie's advice was to leave Moorabbin for a better deal - he knew after 5 years that the Saints were past getting a deal with Kingston. He didn't recommend the Frankston deal because it didn't exist at the time. But he already knew there was a better deal than Moorabbin, at Casey.
At the end of the day the Casey deal got trumped by Frankston giving freehold title to the Saints which will have a valuable building on it - all adding to the balance sheet of the Club. It is in fact a very good deal for the Club, I say through gritted teeth.
Butterss certainly wasn't on the same page as Archie in regard to this matter. His inability to accept that the Saints needed to move on was his downfall. He kept wanting to have negotiations which were never going to result in an acceptable outcome.
We should be thankful for Archie's vision and persistence and his courage in the face of Board resistance. Always a dangerous place for a CEO to be.

this thread is referring to our relocation
