Way too many f***wits on this site. I don't know anything of him but please stop making bulls*** up. So many are bagging Silvagni. The guy knows more about football than all of us put together. Get off his back.

Re: Jack Carroll
I would rather see us recruit this type of young player than someone who is old, tired and their best past them. Welcome to the Saints Jack Carroll.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Jack Carroll
Moronic post, you clearly have bias here. As you know the list you posted here is a cherry picked minority of GWS picks during his tenure. His strike rate at the blues and GWS in the first and second rounds is exceptional.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 08 Nov 2024 5:30pmAlmost all of their champion players?Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Fri 08 Nov 2024 4:52pmHis drafting at GWS was incredibly good what are you on about? He selected almost all of their current champion players. Besides those two years where he went a bit crazy with the GWS rejects, his record at Carlton was also tremendous, he turned that club around from where it was as one of the worse performing sides of the 2000's to where it is today. Cripps, Curnow, Mackay, Walsh and Weitering are all among his personal picks. Grossly underrated list manager.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 08 Nov 2024 4:35pm Deja Vu.
I couldn’t pick Carroll in a line up, and don’t recall seeing him play so I won’t comment on his ability.
However I have been concerned around SOS arriving at the Saints and what input he has in recruiting.
Drafting of first round picks during his tenure at GWS was horrendous, not much better at Carlton.
At Carlton he flooded them with failed GWS rejects and I am concerned he is doing the same at St Kilda with Dow and now Carroll.
I hope it is coincidence, and I hope Carroll is a player, I just don’t rate SOS at all.
Absolute bulls***!
Name the players he picked that make up almost all of their current champions.
SOS was only at GWS for three years and here is a list of his incredibly good first round picks.
He then recruited 9 (yes 9) former GWS players to Carlton.
Yes there's a handful of good picks on the journey, but overall the first round recruiting during his tenure at GSW was the worst in AFL history and poor to average at Carlton, not to mention taking GWS fringe players.
GWS
#1 Jon Patton
#1 Tom Boyd
#2 Jono O'Rourke
#3 Dom Tyson
#3 Lachie Plowman
#4 Jarred Picket
#5 Matt Buntine
#5 Will Setterfield
#6 Caleb Marchbank
#6 Paul Ahern
#10 Liam Sumner
#12 Kristin Jacksh
#14 Aidan Corr
Carlton
#3 Dow
#4 Stocker (gave up #4 for #19)
#6 Sam Petrevski-Seton
#10 O'Brien
#17 Brodie Kemp
#19 Blaine Boekhurst
Then SOS doubled down on a swag of the guys who couldn't cut it at GWS and recruited them to Carlton, where he got the arse BTW despite being a club playing legend and part of the Carlton Royal family.
Great player, probably a ripping bloke but very ordinary history at GWS and Carlton.
Name champion GWS players SOS selected? Try almost every good +100 gamer to ever player for the giants including (but not even slightly limited to); Congolio, Greene, Cameron, Hayes, Whitfield, Trealor, Hoskin Elliot, Taylor Adams, Kelly, Taranto, Tomlinson, Boyd (who contrary to your view was an exceptional player), Zac Williams, Nathan Wilson, Smith, Jack Steele, Lobb and settlefield.
Pretty handy list I would’ve thought.
The entire backbone of Carlton’s success in recent times is due to him. Almost all of their good current players he drafted or recruited.
Very ordinary history at Carlton and GWS? Again Moronic.

Re: Jack Carroll
The question is, given the expertise a contributor to this site regales in why is this contributor an anonymous contributor on this site and not leading St Kilda’s recruitment assets (or any other Club)?
In regard the player recruited from Carlton, having been delisted by Carlton, I have no knowledge whatsoever - but trust in the employers of St Kilda FC to assess there is value for St Kilda
Obviously they have researched him
So instead of bagging what say we wait and see

Re: Jack Carroll
He played15 games this year. Carlton have rocks in their head delisting Owies who kicked 35 goals and keeping Motlop. I would have delisted Motlop instead. Whatever his reason and they all have one, was totally useless in 24. Maybe with the Camporeale twins and pick 3 there was just no room. Doesn't mean he's crap, but Motlop!

This site is a good resource, but, i always find an error, today's error, he has Cordy at 191cm.
Other sites, including the Saints, have him at 195cm.
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window

Who cares where he comes from if he turns into a decent player! My concern is he has had 4 years on their list without consolidating, lets hope he is a slow burner and becomes a player.

Re: Jack Carroll
Always happy to recruit players who have disposal efficiency and athleticism listed as strengths.
Fits what we are building, even if the player isn't a best 22 player.

Re: Jack Carroll
Remember Maaasson Woood; delisted by North after yrs on its list, now a star with his own 2 word chant.
Nice work by Saints recruiting boffins.
Jaaack Caarrolll, now just need a tune to go with the words. More bluesy than Gregorian perhaps.

Re: Jack Carroll
Mason Wood has been a very good pickup
Stocker has been good
Bonner got too many games then got the flick.
We have to try , although we obviously need top end talent we also need better fringe players.

You got to look at BOTH the ins and the outs. You can’t tell me that Carroll is not an upgrade on Hotton? If you don’t think so you then you don’t even know football and are a F-wit.
So many negative nellies. Everyone screams we need mids this is an effing mid we got FOR NOTHING!

Re: Jack Carroll
Yeah, it's a highlights reel but it shows why he was on the verge at Carlton, a decent midfield.
At 51% TOG, you can forgive the numbers.
If Seb Ross was capable of playing 15 games this year, you'd probably prefer to give this kid that chance.
He will develop a little ahead of Wilson and Phillipou, who by all accounts have been given every chance.
This is another top 25 pick, given the development he has done.

Re: Jack Carroll
I’ll tell you one thing
He’s better than Matt Allison from the same draft
Allison pick 26
Carroll pick 41
