The 50m penalty against Windhager was the one that was not umpired in the spirit of the game.

All night they gave warnings and gave instructions to players to go back 2 metres. That killed our momentum

I'm not sure that the 50 against Windhager was because he went over the mark. He came from behind the mark through the protected area which you can't do. The real culprit was the other Saints player who left the mark.

Either way, it was an unjustfied 50 m penalty for such a tiny infraction by Windhager, 99 times out of 100 that would not have been paid.

Amazing that such a blatant 50 wasn't paid against Collingwood.

Yes, at first reading LK's narrative didn't make sense. Yes it was a mark. The Pies pair were over the mark. Umpire made no call so best move was to make a later call to disadvantage the attacking side so Pies defence could set and also rob North of 50m. It also begged the question: if they had not gang stormed toward him after the mark would he have taken any evasive steps. AFL let Pies umpire their own games, which is probably helpful.

Fast using up the good will naturally extended to a newbee and being female, which must make the role harder not easier.
She would be wise to start getting points on the board and consolidating. Umpiring has to be a priority. Defending the indefensible isn't going to cut it, needs to reflect she serves the game, doesn't own it.
