True, but both have got a fair bit of grit and determination in their character that makes them "grow tall", which overcomes the couple of centimetres they lack physically!

I don't know what 'grit' is. I think it means they have flaws but keep their chin up after being exposed. Fair enough, respect. But is it competitive?
