Got a feeling Rath and a few others will be gone at the end of the year.
Tony has hinted there will be further coaching changes.

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
For those saying our list is now rubbish
Have a look at some of last nights midfield contests. They hold our guys and have one guy go at the ball like all good sides. We won the ruck and the clearances but lost the ball through poor disposal and lack of planning. We don't have any system and need a coaching review desperately.
Clubs have been getting wins with very limited midfields this year. The high possession guys are out of style due to fast footy. Freo is pretty much Brodie, Brayshaw and Serong with a few guys having limited rotations. Only Brayshaw is top shelf at this stage.
Sydney have a mix of guys like Warner, Parker, Mills etc rolling through the mids but rely on system to win. Geelong have a real mix going through and like Richmond don't seem to need to win clearance or ruck to win the game.
The idea that you just keep buying bigger guns but don't stand behind a barricade is poor coaching. We probably should have gone for a more dominant first use mid but there is nothing to suggest that whet we have shouldn't win games. We are beating good midfields in numbers but can't make it count.
Narkle's Helmet is right, we need to train skills under pressure. The Dogs train playing every player in tight and have to dispose under heavy pressure in traffic, it means in match situation the are confident that the ball will hit a team mate who knows how to move it quickly out of traffic.

I interpreted in the title of his thread that there would be further changes to the coaching staff.

Drafting and trading for the wrong players if they can’t kick.

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
Expect only Enright to be retained and for Ratts to be given greater autonomy with Rath's departure.
In terms of team, Coffield to come into back six with Connolly; Webster to become an understudy. Sinclair to play in the middle.
Hayes to bolster fwds/ruck. Paddy and Hannebery to retire. DMac and NWM wings. Wood to half forward. Marcus and Mitchito to have natural improvement and to be very good. Higgins & Jones on the outer.
Template side:
Gresham King Hayes
Wood Membrey* Windhager
DMac Sinclair NWM
Coffield Battle Connolly
Wilkie Howard Paton
Ruck: Marshall Steele Owens
Int. Long, Clark, Sharman, Hill
emg Crouch, Ross, Heath
* until we find a real CHF.

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
At the moment supporters want Rath gone, does anyone really know what he does at the club.
It doesn't seem that long ago when supporters had the same fixation on getting rid of Danny Sexton, without really knowing what he contributes.
And who is still at the club now, out on the ground at the 1/4 time and 3/4 breaks for all to see, yep, Danny Sexton.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
Did he have as much control during time at Hawks??
You’re a connected PE teacher you should know???
Pelchen was so at Hawks during success
Maybe Rath dining out on his Hawk days but that doesn’t mean he should have grater say at Saints as Tony and others have alluded to
Anyway ba k to normal BM games
How many games would Rath win coaching this list?
Is Rath no longer any good?
Who really is Rath ??
All these questions …abd more…will never be answered!!

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
Keep it nice Teflon - no need to get personal and insulting
You should probably calm down a bit
From what I understand
Rath was recruited to do exactly the same role he did at Hawthorn- strategy
Pelchen wasn’t at Hawthorn during their 3 peat
He was there in 08 as lost manager
But much of the credit SHOULD go to Gary Buckanara and Graham Wright
Buckanara selected Hodge and Mitchell in 2001
Wright selected Roughead, Franklin, Lewis in 2004
Birchall in 2005, Rioli in 2007 and then Smith, Hill and Co
This was the foundation of their success

If you don't have talent then you can't kick well enough.
Players shouldn't be coming to elite sporting organisations to learn the basics Ike how to kick.

Re: Same old story - can't kick well enough
Sinclair is a beautiful kick, but the other night he came down the ground with a couple of players in the clear running to goal, and decided to kick to Jones who had three Geelong players on him. We have issues above the shoulders more than outright skill.

For real? And do you purposely run different personality traits for each? i.e. Vortex is the prickly one? Or is that just arbitrary? And do Teflon and Vortex have conversations/arguments amongst each other? Has one ever reported the other???
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Yeah Tefffers. Calm down a bit and hop down from your wooden box every now and then and take a breather before you have a heart attack brother. You can't spend the rest of your days sticking pins in your coaches doll.

David Noble as Director of footy ops Teflon?Teflon wrote: ↑Sun 07 Aug 2022 6:34pm This interesting from bf not a bad idea
We should seriously look at Rath. I have heard that three different players have expressed concerns with our game plan. One is one of our best players.
?"
To me you have David Noble who literally turned the Lions from one of the worst sides in footy, lost in the wilderness for years and made them a pro club. He's sitting there available and a club like us would never usually get access to such a highly rated operator. Chuck him in as director of footy ops.
You can't be serious!
It's patently obvious that Noble was sacked because he had lost his players - big time.
Just ask North Melbourne supporters what they think of Noble - they were just as loud and insistent in their demands for the club to sack him as you are about Ratten.
