Re: Sinc's breakout year
I think I'd prefer Hind on $250,000 than Hill on $750,000
That one was a gift for Essendon.
We never tried bim where he played his best footy, because we were giving games to Coff and Clark at HB because we didn't want to rush them into the midfield.
Lesson from that, and we need to pay attention to it from this draft, if you want a midfielder...draft a pure midfielder not a general defence/ midfield

Re: Sinc's breakout year
It is
But someone pointed out we didn’t need Hind because of Sinclair’s positional change and development
I suggested that Hind would be HB instead of Hill as they are pretty similar running backs
Someone correctly pointed out that Hind was not played HB to develop Clark and Coffield

Re: Sinc's breakout year
So, am I correct in assuming that you believe Sinclair was always going to be played at HB and that Paton's injury caused a reshuffle of Hill to HB?
Therefore HInd was never going to replace Sinclair in the side but Paton/Hind?

Re: Sinc's breakout year
Patons injury, Hind being traded and Coffields form being ordinary and , in my opinion, watching Caleb Daniels role for Dogs, gave Sinclair a go at half back which he has now made his own.
He was going ok playing off the bench to the wing the year before but was on the fringes ...player 21 or 22 selected.
The events conspired to give him a go in the backline.
He is now in the first half dozen picked each week.

Re: Sinc's breakout year
Sinclair has stated that it was in his exit meeting in 2020 where Ratts suggested he be tried at HB
He trained with the defenders during pre season - agree it would have been thought of as a Daniel type move
Webster replaced the injured Paton
Hill took Coffs spot on a HBF this happened in season as Hill was struggling on the wing and Coffield was struggling down back

Re: Sinc's breakout year
Sincs started to show us a glimpse of his silky talents at the ass end of 2020 and then went on with it this year.
Not as big of a surprise as some would have it.

Re: Sinc's breakout year
So Sinclair going to HB was a pre-season idea?
I'm trying to think who was playing there last year (without Webster and Sinclair)
If Webster replaced Paton
And Hill replaced Coffield,
then SInclair must have replaced Geary?

Agreed Sinclair is a vital part of our team now.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 05 Oct 2021 11:11amPatons injury, Hind being traded and Coffields form being ordinary and , in my opinion, watching Caleb Daniels role for Dogs, gave Sinclair a go at half back which he has now made his own.

Long term I think he's been earmarked to replace Geary there. A change of role for that position - more playmaker than lockdown.
Interestingly we offered Hind a contract which he chose to reject and move to Essendope.
So we didn't delist him and obviously saw enough to offer him a place on our list.
