Agreed and particularly given its meant to be a strong midfielders draft!

The way we are going onfield and with our draw I can see us having a season like Melbourne in 2019, so our 1st round pick will be very valuable.

First you need to build a list

It needs about 6 A Graders

A core of about 10 B Graders

And 10 Fringe C Graders to round out the team and for depth

Then you need some mature age D Graders. (Insurance)

And around 8 developing players

You are then hopefully contending?!

Then EVERY year -
You select a First Round Draft pick
If you trade in that selection, it must be an elite talent under 22
If you’ve trade your FRDP you must select a SRDP
If you have used your FRDP you can trade your SRDP for a good AFL player (that player must have the ability to play 100+ games.
If you have used your First and Second rounders you can trade your Third, for capable AFL player/Role player.
Fourth and fifth rounders can be used or traded for speculative players
Rookies
First selection take a slider from the draft
Second selection a mature age state league player
Third selection if wanted - speculative player

If possible a targeted FA and/or DFA

That’s my theory on list management

Grant Thomas and Matt Rendell told me
If you keep bring in talent through the down down the bottom, the top will take care of itself!

Common sense approach.

It is very costly to pry a contracted player out of his clu as we have seen with Hill and we may feel the damage of that trade for a few seasons.

Richmond are still bringing the young talent through the draft but giving them a couple of development years to be ready like Balta.

Our issue has been we have to turn over basically 30 players in the past 4 years. Our list was very ordinary and we couldnt attract the right players under Richardson.

Fremantle fleeced us in the Hill trade, Sydney are laughing about offloading a crippled Hannebrey. I even question giving up this years 2nd rounder for Higgins given the reported strength of this years draft. Higgins appears to not have the running endurance for the modern game.

Our saviour will hopefully be this years NGA & Father Son prospects, including a 1st round pick at the National Draft.

IMO we need quality & speedy midfielders, a talented young ruckman, small defenders and wingmen, to compliment our current list.

Frawley, ‘Slips through his hands’ McKernan & Wood this year.

One of them is under 33 so good to go!
Me thinks Jack Higgins is almost the youngest missing out by 9 days....so yeah you missed him.

this years trading takes the pressure off North Melbourne of a few years ago.
It's alright for fans to over-rate the list but when the admin thinks we're so close we need to load up on depth whilst ignoring structural weaknesses you get results like the last couple of weeks.
Never mind, at least we're at the forefront of all the "woke" causes and have a women's team!
Ya dont rate Jack Higgins trade? He's no good?
2nd best on ground last week and 2nd youngest player on the team.

Just came back from TWO BRAIN SURGERIES 11 games ago.

Poor bastard kicked 3 goals, 82% disposal efficiency, 8 scoring involvements and he's still considered a flog.
