The issue was workrate

Contested possessions and I50s were relatively even.

Uncontested possessions was as lop sided as you can get

Meaning we were out worked in both offence and defence.

When they had it we didn’t run to defend

We didn’t run, it was simply work rate (combined with gameplan)

think we just believed in our own hype. expected to win and team was lazy. full of downhill skiers. didn't help that the club and coached inflated the hype. for ratts to suggest we were close to richmond in our final didn't help. he obviously thought praise was needed to push a little self belief. instead we needed a reality check - a lift in work rate was needed. first to the ball, hit and stick tackles, relentless pressure. instead we crumble under pressure. our midfield is soft (bar steele), our forward entries show a lack of tactical nous, our defence is flat footed. we have a large contingent of imports that seem happy to enjoy the good days, but don't bleed when we need them to. our richo brigade similarly lack the hardness to sacrifice the body when the situation calls for it. all well and good to fly when we are in form, but the way we fold when not shows a team without heart. be interesting to see if we can respond next week or we just accept our fate.
