Oh yeah I see the irony alright and know exactly what's going on and it is a deliberate attempt to divide the site between those that want to just support the club, keep the positive vibe going because for the first time in this clubs history we have a truly professional football department,
20-2 we have the best coach in the AFL, other clubs are trying to copy the St Kilda game plan,
desperately unlucky last year, so many things went against us and we still should have beaten them,
penny dropping,
As WhiteWinmar so eloquently put it, "Thomas inherited a list from heaven and managed to send it half way to hell" and the belief cloud ended up looking more like a mushroom!
Grant " fitness and conditioning staff are overrated" Thomas and his dictatorship, serial mismanagement and neglect cost this club probably two premierships already and you drinkers of the poisoned cordial still don't get it,
We now a have a strong relationship with our VFL side which kind of works better when you bother to talk with them.
Gary posted a couple of years ago that it was HIS understanding that Thomas would step aside if he/Thomas thought there was a better man for the job and Gary actually believed that Thomas was being sincere, took him at his word,......... oh dear
Butterss learnt that lesson and like a lot of things with Thomas they either end up in acrimony or a courtroom,
seriously, as though Thomas would just up and go, forsaking a $500,000 gig coaching an AFL club with bonus incentives of a further $500,000 dollar payment if certain criteria were met, when he has eight kids and a Brighton Mansion to maintain!
And Gary actually thought Thomas was being sincere!
Checkmate!
Thomas couldn't lie straight in bed, it's mind boggling that any of you can be so naive and gullible to that extreme, I mean seriously,........ FAIR DINKUM,........ GET REAL!
Some of the stories I could tell, but leaving them aside,
the differences between Ross Lyon the coach who sets trends and a professional football department with proper processes in fitness and conditioning strictly adhered to, as opposed to the dictatorship of Thomas, would be akin to likening Mother Theresa with Paris Hilton, seriously the polarities could not be any more extreme,
yet RF and his want to just shyte stir as if this be clever to somehow mirror all the stuff that was said about Thomas and yes mostly by me,........ it's not clever, it's not funny, it just further demonstrates how dumbed down and clueless, how gullible and naive, how mindless, laterally challenged and easily conned, some people really are!
Apparently this dumbed down, dingbat drivel and dripfeed is deliciously dripping with irony delighting you Thomas flogs with your cheeky little monkey spanking grins, devoid of a drum that you wouldn't get with a brass band up you, bereft of any perspicacious understanding derived from perspicuous reasoning, the laterally challenged drinker's of the poisoned cordial take quiet comfort in floghorn fox's flagettating frog shyte and his empty headed vacuous mindset,
and then we get to the point where Gary "It is my understanding that Thomas would step aside if he thought there was a better man for the job" Guevara rides in to defend this troll, who is doing nothing more than spreading negativity when there is so much to be positive about,
The snakeoil salesman, ex- Warrnabool coach, with no previous AFL coaching experience, who in a sham process appointed and paid himself $500,000 annually from the get go, has been exited out and not one moment too soon after amateur hour dragged on for over five years, we now have the Real McCoy, a genuine coach who sets trends, with ten years experience as an assistant, including a Premiership with Sydney,
it's hardly like we are down the bottom called Richmond or even just falling into the finals,
20-2 and IMHO we orchestrated those two losses by experimenting before the finals,
the differences are so extreme, do I really need to point this out?
yet this troll bagging of Ross Lyon might seem funny and ironic to any malcontent still feeling up their GT inflatable, but in truth it just further exposes how vacuous this moronic mindset really is,
Gary Guevara is actively supporting this deliberate attempt to perpetuate negativity and division, when we as Sainters have a lot to be positive about,
In 2006 we lost more quarters than we won, we were on the slide, mid season crisis meeting for the second year running, a fitness and conditioning nightmare, a playing list unfit for the requirements of elite AFL football, a list getting slower and slower, a corrosive relationship with our VFL affiliate, not too mention a coach playing Blake in the ruck with no numbers behind the ball etc...etc... the list is as long as The Great Wall of China!
IMHO Gary Guevara should be banned for a lot longer, so he at least has more of an opportunity to do something meaningful, get a life and stop pissing it all up against the wall on a flowering footy forum, carrying on like he's holding a torch for freedom and natural justice, when in truth he's only defending an absolute clueless trolling twit who just happens to share the same laterally challenged empty headed understandings as himself!
Yeah, Grant would have just stepped aside,.........OMG, oh dear,
I've don't know what happened in the general forum, I don't care, though I can well imagine, could not give a rat's scrotum who said what, this, that or anything, but I do know, when Gary Guevara was banned only from the general forum he continued to argue this nonsense with Paris Milton on the main forum as if anyone gives a **** about this shyte over there, hijacking threads with childish, infantile squabbling and carrying on like a petulant schoolboy, when people were actually just discussing football!
WAKE UP, GET REAL THIS IS A FOOTY FORUM, not the American Civil Rights Movement!
FAIR DINKUM
AND besides, for anyone defending this troll RF
Thomas had coached 89 games of AFL football before I said one bad word about him, the bagging of Lyon started from around 89 seconds after his appointment!
Thomas started with 20 wins 1 draw and 52 losses in his first three and a bit seasons

My take? I couldn't farking care less. BUT I hate to see mobs attack - for any reason.

Here's my take on it.BAM! (shhhh) wrote:Guys, if we're going to see another replay of the "does Harvey rate Lyon as the best", can those picking sides please get some sources? (note, general netiquette is for sources to be used to prove, not to disprove).
My recollection was that there was a quote from a big article in the Age not long after Harvey announced he was going to play in 2008 where he was asked about all the coaches, and the gist was that Harvey said Lyon was the best prepared coach he'd played for. I recall that certain posters on here decided that meant best ever, but that seemed to have to do with Lyon v Thomas than Lyon v Alves, or Lyon v Baldock.
My memory could easily be wrong.
I've had a bit of a look, and the closest thing I can find is an old saintsational thread... with a certain pair of posters going head to head over whether or not Harvey had anemd Lyon as best coach he'd played for, and accusations of liar being thrown.
http://www.saintsational.com/forum/view ... c&start=75
The thread's from November 2007.I can't stand the suspense any more, can we please have some sources?
1. Since 2007, B4E has been stating that Harvey rates Lyon as the best coach he ever played under.
2. Like rf and BAM!, I have a strong recollection of Harvey having said in a newspaper interview something like "Lyon provides the most thorough/best preparation for games of any coach I have ever played under". My recollection is that he also went on to say some specifically positive things about the game plan".
3. Like (I presume) everyone else on here, I have tried to track this 2007 interview down from the web, and have been unable to do so.
4. Before the GF last year, Harvey was widely quoted as saying something like (I haven't bothered to look this up)"Lyon is the coldest, most calculating, most ruthless coach I have ever played under". I wondered at the time if this was a little bit of a backhanded compliment (eg, reflecting a possible view that Lyon was a bit too tough on the likes of Hudghton and Ball). Anyway, if quite clearly wasn't saying that Harvey considered Lyon to be absolutely the best coach he ever played under, so it is possible that - if Harvey ever held this view - he doesn't any more.
5. Yipper reports - and I have no reason to disbelieve him - that Harves said publicly at the 2008 B&F that Lyon was "the best coach he had ever played under". I suspect it was a somewhat hyperbolic statement made in the heat of the moment. But he undoubtedly said it.
Conclusion: I'm not really sure. I don't think B4E was right in 2007 when he said that Harvey had said Lyon was the best coach he had ever played under. I think it would be fair to say that what yipper has reported kind of proved B4E right post facto.
I actually don't believe that, if you asked Harves today if Lyon was the best coach he had ever played under, he would answer an unequivocal "yes". Perhaps someone on here who knows Harves should ask him.
And is rf being unfair to call B4E a liar?
I don't like to call people "liars" myself, I would tend to use less personal terminology like "that's bulls@#t".
When B4E thinks I've said something incorrect, he tends to call me a "tossil-tugging knob jockey who wouldn't get the drum if he had the entire cast of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo up his bum" or some such. Is this worse than calling someone a liar? I'm not sure.
I kind of enjoy both B4E's and rf's passion for their views and the heated language in which they tend to express them. They have significantly different views of Ross Lyon's abilities and achievements as a coach, and I reckon that's healthy and interesting for the forum.

Yipper responded directly to what B4Eva lied about Harves saying. He said Harvey quoted exactly what B4Eva said.
So somewhere, magically, back when the thread that was posted above was written, it was news to Yipper that Harves has said it.
But now, a couple of years later he is adamant that it is exactly what Harves said?
He then said that he 'repeated it at the B&F'.
I think someone might be a tad embarrassed when they get back from lunch.
You're lying again.
You said yesterday that he said exactly what was quoted - AND repeated it at the B&F.
HAahaha!!
Seriously man, let it go. You've been busted terribly and I understand due to your odd behaviour that you won't apologise. Fair enough. Being busted like this would be a tough pill to swallow.
But stop digging the hole deeper. You look like a goose now, but the deeper the hole gets the worse you'll look.
So funny.

You're seriously not still trying to convince the world that Thomas is/was a monster are you?
I really don't think anyone cares.
He's gone. Move on.
The other is the comparison between Thomas and Lyon. Why? Do you think that if Lyon is better than Thomas, it means that Lyon is a genius??
Gee, if that's the case then you have set the bar pretty low I would have though.

Yipper, the only thing more embarrassing about this episode for you - is that you're not fessing up. Or at the very least just letting it go.yipper wrote:someone needs glasses I think!!! And another box of tissues!!!
Seriously, this is the funniest thing I've ever witnessed on here. The more you clutch and the deeper you dig, the harder it's going to be for you.
Just too funny.
I'll admit MB, I may have had a little look-see on google and I can't find it either. However Yipper is relaying something he heard in a speech, not what he read in a newspaper article.
The context of this thread was supposed to be that we have very strong leaders at the club, and this is not an exclusive view simply held by loyal Saints supporters.
Ross was voted by his peers last year as best AFL coach, Roo was AA captain, and Lenny was close to winning the brownlow.
It's not such a terrible line up.

When I first asked RodgerRox for a link, I asked for eith a link to the article or an audio link,
None has been forthcoming.
But I agree with AOK, I was asking as a individual poster because RFaccused two others of lying. I do not condone gaining up onanybody.
I had not heard Robert Harvey in any quote or article say Lyon was the best coach or best prepared coach or whatever the semantics was over the words.
When RF challenged my request I merely remarked that the burden of proof was on the accuser. After repeated unfulfilled requests, I came to the conclusion that RodgerFox had slandered yipper and b4e by calling them liars and told him so.
But in this case I dont think it has been ganging up on RF. Seems like many on here wanted to see the link after such an insult of calling two other individuals liars.
I don find it a little ironic that someone who set out to bully yipper and barks4eva bycalling them liars starts complaining about bullying.
But he has the right to complain, and others have the right to dismiss his complaints, just like he has the right to post what he believes is correct and not be called a LIAR from person or persons unknown with no substantive proof to back up their insult.
cheers.

I SUPPORT OUR CLUB, COACH AND CAPTAIN.
I believe what they say and I'm prepared to publicly back them.
No amount of attempted hijacking by serial posters trying to run their own persoanl agendas will dissuade me from this opinion in this case.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Barks, GT started coaching in Round 16 2001, did not coach a game in 2000........
Ok, I suppose my main point is that I did not bag Thomas until after he had coached 89 games of AFL football and been there for about 4 years!
So the deliberate attempt by RF to ape me is way out of context!
DO THE MATHS AND THE SQUARES ARE ALL ROOTED.
