Geelong, Adelaide, Dogs, collingwood or Brisbane. They are all professional teams who have put years of work to get where they are now. And all of whome are capable of beating us on a given day.
It hasnt happened till its happened.
But I must say Rodge, you are setting the scene beautifully for a perfect trolling storm should the saints fail at one of the last posts.

Geelong yes. The crows will not be as potent without McLeod, Goodwin, Burton and Edwards running around. The Dogs can have fun finishing 3-5th in their window as without a key forward and testicles they won't be finishing higher baring a fluke. Collingwood are still off. Brisbane will be struggling when Bradshaw, Power, Black and co leavebob__71 wrote:Geelong, Adelaide, Dogs, collingwood or Brisbane. I have confidence that if we get beaten by anyone in the finals it will be because the opposition plays a blinder. I have confidence that the StKilda team will try their best.

It's a football game. Two games to win.
You are contradicting yourself.....
One hand - we will be stuck with the coach regardless....as if that is the most unpalatable thing going.
Other hand - "Hell, Ken Judge could surely win the flag from here in our position!!"
So if we lose it's all on the coach and if we win, then Joe the Blind Miner could've done it.
So Lyon would get no praise from you with the premiership cup but would get the sack if we fall at one of the last hurdles?
Is that your position?
Lyon has put us in this point and will get absolute credit when/if we win it.
He is coaching very very well. I mean seriously, we are so far ahead of the pack that it isn't funny.
The point is, that if we don't win it - the same recipe that has got us here, will surely be deemed to have failed given the dream run we have had.
If it doesn't work now under the current circumstances, I can't imagine it will work if things don't go our way.
Why would you be happy to have a coach whose methods don't work?
This is crazy even by your standards. How can you really say that?
So you'd sack him if we lost the GF? Because his methods don't work? So the possibility that we can win it next year with RL as coach isn't possible according to you?
FFS, come out of the closet of shyte stirrers will ya.

We've been very fortunate this year.
So now we go from "we were fortunate" to "we are the best and if we lose, the coach is to blame".

Rodger the Dodger what is the point of quoting teams that are still in the finals and stating who has been missing from each?
Reincarnated says this. Teams get injuries. We have had injuries. Hawthorn played against us with 8 of our top players out, we still won. Do we blame our victory on injuries?
Football is an interesting specimen. A club can run on emotion, courage and fear of failure and it drives players to heights otherwise unforeseen. Especially the poorer ones i.e. CJ, MCQ, Zac, Geary.
W have been running on positive energy and its assisted us going forward. Regardless of who is there they have performed well above what was initially expected of them going into 2009.
We are in a good place currently and it is being seen on the field and off.
To label our season as lucky or but a *** beside it due to playing a few teams that have had players injured is unintelligent and wrecks of the old St kilda loser-ish, fear of success culture that has dogged our once pathetic football club.
The players have done the job up until now. Roo obviously has a knee issue, further details will come out about how serious it is after our year is completed.

We've just been very lucky, that's all.
Can you point out who said that and where, cause I'll go into the thread and debate it with them because it's quite simply a silly thing to say.
Are you sure that's what they said?
Better get yourself a mirror so that you can debate yourself.
And unlike some posters habit of 'selectively' quoting posts, your whole post is there.rodgerfox wrote:We've been very fortunate. Let's be honest.
We played the Pies without 3 or 4 of their best.
We played the Cats without Johnson.
We played the Crows without Edwards.
We beat Dogs after Higgins, Murphy and someone else got hurt during the game.
We've also remained injury free.
We've been very fortunate this year.
But that's certainly not a bad thing. Luck is what wins you a flag. There's lots of things you need to get right within your own control, but the very nature of Aussie Rules - the oval ball, 18 guys on the park, wind, human umpires, ludicrous scheduling etc. mean that the best team doesn't always win.
It's not an even playing field.
Luck is the biggest factor.
We've had that in spades this year.
And I believe it will continue.
Look at this.....
We play Collingwood. A very average side. An average side that has just brought in Rocca.
Again, I feel our luck is in. We cop Collingwood after they got rolled pretty easily.
We'll beat them easily tomorrow. It will actually be quite scary for the remaining 6 teams.
Then, we find ourselves in the 'easy' side of the draw. We get a fortnight break, whilst the plodders in Carlton/Brisbane and the Dogs work out who will play us in the Prelim.
Clearly, they showed it, the Dogs don't want to play us.
Meanwhile, on the other side the Cats get to play Adelaide. A pretty fired up Adelaide, whom foolishly believe they've got the goods.
Then, in the GF we'll play a 'shiit scared of losing' Geelong, or an Adelaide side that we belted by 40 odd points a month or so ago, after they'd just had their confidence up after 7 straight wins.
We've created much of our own luck this year, granted. But there's plenty that you simply don't get a say in.
Like Sydney in 05, things have gone our way. And will continue to do so.
I don't know why, but this is the finally the year that the Saints win the flag. Finally the year when things go our way.
It's quite enjoyable isn't it.
Go knock yourself out rodgerstool.
And btw, I'm pretty certain that a mod 'outed' you as also using Violent Stool as a name on here?
Which means your protestation of never having used it would be an untruth, which would make you a liar - which you have posted as something you detest.
Therefore you've something in common with many other posters on here -we/they detest your 'baiting' posting style on here.
Methinks it's time for you to get some new material as your old stuff has become increasingly boring.
I've repeated your post on us being lucky so that you can explain away the two statements highlighted in larger size with your current view of what you've posted in the last couple of hours?

Yes, I can read, cabbage. You state that we were fortunate and then mention how teams were not at full strenght. Then in the next line you say that we've proven that we're better than them? It appears simple to this simpleton.rodgerfox wrote:I simply cannot believe your stupidity.Milton66 wrote:And yet, if you scroll back a few pages on this thread, Mr Magic dug up an old post where Rodger categorically states that we were fortunate to beat some of these teams becaue they had players missing... go figure.bob__71 wrote:We were better than them in the games we have played so far. Secondly, we've proven to be better than them because we finished above them on the ladder and beat them all.
Surely, for the love of god, that is as clear as day.
Its all moot anyway. Noone argues that a bit of luck doesnt go a long way to winning a flag..whether its a blessed run of injuries to your own team, or your opponents having a few out..thats footy. I wont be celebrating any less hard if we make the GF, play Geelong, Selwood and Ablett get injured at training and we win by 6 goals.rodgerfox wrote:I'm not saying anything of the sort.saint66au wrote:

Besides, losing Pendlebury in the first 5 minutes was some good fortune for us.
Frankly, given our run of injuries over the last 6-8 years I reckon we are due a few lucky breaks eh???

Newsflash: Dodgy stool has no real interest in any particular stance he may choose to adopt, only in stroking his own ego and shyte stirring (it amuses him to the point of it being creepy).... if you get him by the tail on a particular argument he will just shed it like a lizard, slink off behind one of his embankments and grow another.
As rightly pointed out he is now merely positioning himself and putting in the shovel work in preparation for a St Kilda loss.... and oh how he relishes the prospect of plundering those fertile fields! He can almost taste it....
The only question is why does he bother?
